The RONE Nominations are out and I’ve got 2 books given the nod!

Prestige is something every author dreams of. The InD’Tale annual RONE awards are one of the most prestigious awards in writing and this year I am lucky enough to be a double nominee!

In the Suspense/Thriller Steamy category, book 2 in A PRIDE OF BROTHERS: AIDEN is a nominee.

Here’s the amazing review that garnered me a Rone nod:

A Pride of Brothers: Aiden

Suspense-Thriller

When Aiden Keane spots a redheaded bombshell flirting up a storm with a sleazeball in the airport bar, he can’t help but be intrigued. When he later sees someone he’s sure is the same woman but looks completely different, his curiosity skyrockets. Before long, Aiden is embroiled in a mystery that seems to get more complicated the further he digs into it. Lexi Buckley is grateful for Aiden’s help and expertise, and the fact that he seems to believe her when she says her sister was murdered, instead of killing herself as everyone would have her believe. Clues lead Lexi and Aiden on a twisty, convoluted trail, that brings with it danger, more suspects than they know what to do with, and sparks that could last a lifetime.

Holy smokes, Batman! Buckle up for a ride of murder, mystery, and sexual tension that will leave readers on the edge of their seats and staying up till the wee hours to find out what happens next! The chemistry between Aiden and Lexi is explosive, even though they both try to fight it. The mystery has so many things going on it will keep readers glued to the pages. Brontë is a fabulous side character, even though she’s a dog! Visits from Aiden’s brothers add extra depth and fun to the tale and make one want to learn more about them. Lexi’s habit of spouting random facts when she’s nervous makes her quirky and adorable. Aiden is not without his own issues, yet he still manages to be a swoon-worthy, smart-as-anything Alpha. Absolute perfection from start to finish, “A Pride of Brothers: Aiden” is completely unputdownable!

Piper Valentine

I still cry every time I read that!

The second book nominated in my indie book BALANCE

Here’s the review for that one:

Balance

Peggy

Jeager

Genre:

Contemporary

Phillippa Doubletree, Phil to her friends, has a trust fund, thus never has money issues. To give back to the community, she volunteers at a women’s shelter which takes care of battered women and their children. One night, she takes a severely battered woman to the Emergency Room for help and has a run-in with the handsome Physician’s Assistant, Decker Madina. Soon afterward, he asks Phil out. Hesitant at first, she soon recognizes they have chemistry. Phil deliberately hides the fact she is wealthy because she knows Decker struggles with paying his bills. Before she knows it, Phil is well ensconced within Decker’s family, consisting of him, his ten-year-old son, and his aged father. Phil has good intentions of revealing her wealth to Decker, but the time never seems to be right.

“Balance” is an exceptionally brilliant story crafted by Ms. Jaeger, enveloping the reader deep in the story as it unfolds. There is a viable tension underlying most of the story as we sense Phil’s insecurities. Descriptive passages help the reader imagine each of the scenes as they unfold. Phil and Decker are strong characters with fascinating backstories. Emotions run high in this novel, and one can feel the angst of the characters as they work through their feelings, coming to life-changing decisions. A few scenes drag due to wordiness, but the pace quickly picks up again in this intense story. Phil and Decker come from different societies, but they both want the same thing – true love – and for it to work, they must find a balance between their two worlds. “Balance” is a must-read!

Belinda Wilson

Voting begins soon and is open to the public so you are sure to know I will be posting those links EVERYWHERE for those of you who’d like to vote. Last year I had two nominations as well, one for the first book A PRIDE OF BROTHERS: RICK. I can in a very close second and this year I really really really want to win in my category! The competition is amazeballs, though, so it’s gonna be a real uphill climb.

More to come, peeps. For now – I’m basking! heehee

SIlver Dagger tour for THE SPEAR ALIGHT by Judith Sterling; #giveaway #YAFantasy #PNR

So excited to help my dear writing friend JUDITH STERLING promote her newest book THE SPEAR ALIGHT with the help of Silver Dagger tours!

The Spear Alight

The Guardians of Erin Book Four

by Judith Sterling

Genre: YA Fantasy, Paranormal

Ashling Donoghue has almost lost hope of finding her missing parents. As her faith wanes, her love for two men waxes, rending her heart and causing friction in the Breasal household. The time has come to make a choice, to create a future untarnished by doubt. But how can she embrace the light when lured by the soft seduction of shadow?

At last, her brother Conall channels the Spear of Illumination. He’s a natural shapeshifter, and he sees through illusions in both the material world and the Otherworld…not a moment too soon. An ancient evil has surfaced, and it threatens all worlds.

Only the Donoghues can save Ireland. They must face their greatest fears and act as one to fulfill their destinies as guardians of Erin.

All aspiration toward sleep left me. I needed company. Now.

Lorcan.

Bad idea. Far worse than waking up my sister. But he wouldn’t judge. In fact, he’d probably be glad to see me. Me, Ashling Donoghue, pariah and maven of mistakes. I’d made a million of them. What was one more?

I imagined the interior of Lorcan’s tent at Dun Aengus on Inishmore. Then I flexed my will and was there, surrounded by rich colors, sumptuous fabrics, and perforated hanging lanterns. The intricately patterned Persian carpet felt soft and soothing to my bare feet.

Was he in bed? There was one safe way to find out. “Lorcan? Are you here?”

“Ashling?” His silken voice, warm and rousing, flowed from the bedroom and washed over me.

“Yes. It’s me.”

A heartbeat later, he appeared between the drawn, red curtains that separated his bed from the main section of the tent. He wore a black velvet dressing gown and an expression of mingled surprise and pleasure. With relaxed strides, he closed the gap between us. “You’re the last person I expected to see tonight.” His heated gaze roamed over me.

Too late, I realized I was wearing a thin, white night shirt that refused to cover anything below my upper thighs. I grabbed the hem on both sides and pulled downward…in vain. “I never planned to come.”

“Why did you?” His shoulder-length black hair looked as luxurious as his robe. I stifled the urge to touch both.

“I needed a friend.”

“Haven’t we traveled beyond the bounds of friendship?”

My stomach trembled at the memory of our passionate kiss. Stop it! I huffed. “That never should’ve happened.”

“But it did, because it had to.” His ice blue eyes held my gaze. “You belong to me. We belong to each other.”

“Aengus would disagree.”

“If he were here, but he isn’t.” He reached for my left hand and turned it over. Gently, he caressed my palm with the pad of his thumb.

“You have an answer for everything, don’t you?” My palm tingled.

You are the answer. Nothing and no one else.”

The Cauldron Stirred

Guardians of Erin, Book One

Ashling Donoghue never dreamed moving to Ireland would rock her perception of reality and plunge her into a mystery that brings legend to life.

At seventeen, she’s never had a boyfriend, but she feels an immediate connection to Aengus Breasal, the son of the wealthy Irishman who’s invited her family to stay at his Killarney estate. For the first time in her life, a guy she likes seems attracted to her.

But Aengus is secretive, with good reason. He and his family are the Tuatha Dé Danann, ageless, mythical guardians adept at shifting between this reality and the magical dimension known as the Otherworld. Evil forces from that world threaten the Breasals, the Donoghues, and all of Ireland. Ashling must open her heart, face her fears, and embrace a destiny greater than she could ever have imagined.

The temptation of having her was too much to ignore… We ended up spending one night together–a night neither of us will forget.

Now, I want more. I need more. I want to spend every night, skin-on-skin, with my beautiful Ella.

Problem is, when she finds out who I really am, she’ll never forgive me.

In that moment, she becomes a target for the mob—and a top priority for a very determined, breathtakingly handsome, FBI special agent. With two of his men and one crucial witness dead, Special Agent Kyros Pappandreos can’t afford to be distracted. But Gemma is dazzling—and her connection to Kandy Laine’s high-profile cooking empire makes her an especially easy mark for some very bad people. Keeping her safe is much more pleasure than business, but as the heat between them starts to sizzle, Ky is set to investigate whether they have a shot at love . . .

I hope you enter both!! Good luck and remember – you gotta be in it to win it!!! ~ Peg

Shamrocks are a Girl’s Best Friend – a new Last Chance Beach addition from Lucinda Race

My dear friend and fellow romance writer, Lucinda Race, has a new addition to the LAST CHANCE BEACH series that’s just in time for St. Patrick’s day. Read below for all the deets on SHAMROCKS ARE A GIRL’S BEST FRIEND

Battered, broken, and looking for solitude smoke jumper Tric heads to Last Chance Beach and without warning walks into Kelly’s cottage. She knows from experience this is the best place for him to recover and she’ll share her safe haven with him. Will a bit of Irish luck and a matchmaking uncle give them a chance to find love?

Tric Ryan has spent the majority of his adult life jumping out of airplanes and into infernos. That is until a fateful jump nearly ends his career as a smokejumper. Badly in need of a change, he drives to Last Chance Beach to recover. A short respite at Shamrock Cottage promises him the solitude he needs to recoup or to figure out how he’ll face a future without the dangerous job he loves.

Kelly O’Malley moved to Last Chance Beach after a broken heart. She’s living in her uncle’s rental, Shamrock Cottage, after a fire destroys her home. Brandishing a skillet she’s ready to defend her safe haven from the battered and bruised man in her living room.  A quick call to her uncle confirms the mix-up, and that he’s accidentally rented the cottage to both Tric and her for an open-ended stay. When they both agree they can share the spacious vacation home, sparks are sure to fly.

Kelly helps Tric recover with easy walks on the beach and friendship. Will the magic of Last Chance Beach, with a dash of luck from the Irish, heal the heartaches Kelly and Tric carry and help them find the love and a future they both deserve? After all, Shamrocks are a girl’s best friend.

Kelly O’Malley crept down the hallway of Shamrock Cottage, her heart pounding in her chest. The early morning sun streamed through the skylights and the hardwood floor was cool against her bare feet on this late-January morning. The weight of her cell phone was comforting in her sweatpants pocket.

Who the heck was in her house?

She slid along the wall like she had seen in those movies on television where the girl sleuth was stalking the unknown. Dramatic much? When she reached the end of the hall, she peeked around the corner, her gaze sweeping the open space of the living and dining rooms and kitchen. Standing in front of the sliding glass doors, looking out over the ocean, was a very tall man, even by her standards, as Kelly was tapping six feet herself. With a backpack over one shoulder and an enormous canvas duffel bag at his feet, he leaned heavily on a cane.

She tiptoed to the counter and grabbed the cast iron skillet, being careful not to make a sound. If he’d heard her, he hadn’t moved.

She raised the skillet to shoulder height, clutching it with two hands for good swinging leverage. “What are you doing in my house?”

The man slowly turned, grimaced, clutched his leg, and held up his other hand with the cane dangling from it. “What are you doing in my rental?” Confusion and pain clouded his eyes. “I promise I can’t hurt you.” He gestured to his leg. “Recovering from surgery and exhausted from a long drive.”

She didn’t lower her makeshift weapon but instead looked him over from head to toe. He was ruggedly handsome but did look road weary. “Rental?”

“Yes, well, actually this place belongs to a friend of my uncle, who’s a fire chief in Chicago. I signed the agreement on Rental Direct.” He shifted his backpack on his shoulder. “I can show you the agreement on my laptop.”

Well, that was the company her aunt and uncle used to rent their cottage, but that was before her house had burned to the ground in November and left her homeless.

“Who’s your uncle?”

He’d better come up with the right names or she’d call the police to escort him out and then change the code for the door lock. That thought caused her to frown; she’d changed it at the beginning of December.

“John Bannon, and he’s friends with Kevin O’Malley and his wife. I can’t remember her name.”

Well, that was her uncle. She kept holding the skillet with one hand and with the other withdrew her cell. “Joan. Her name is Joan. I’m going to give him a call and I’ll put it on speakerphone.”

“Good idea.” He took a slow, halting step toward her and a flash of agony washed over his face.

She softened but still brandished the skillet even though her arm was beginning to tremble. She lowered it. “No funny business.”

He held up his hands in surrender. “Promise.” He gestured to a chair. “Mind if I sit?”

She pointed to a stool on the other side of the breakfast bar. Kelly didn’t want to look like she was a pushover, but his face was stark white and the last thing she wanted was for him to collapse.

Placing the cell on the counter, she stared at the man across from her. After the fourth ring, a deep male voice said, “Kelly, this is a surprise.”

“Hi, Uncle Kevin. I’ve got a situation down here.”

“There’s a list of qualified repair people on the island. You don’t need to call us before you take care of business.”

“It’s not that kind of issue. I have a man in my cottage and he says you rented this place to him.” Then it dawned on her that he hadn’t said his name. “Who are you?”

“Patrick Ryan, but my friends call me Tric.” He gave her a strained smile.

“Did you hear that? Patrick Ryan is in my home.”

“Oh, shoot, Kel. I’m sorry. Up until this moment, I’d forgotten we’d given Tric the family and friends code before your fire, which let him book even though I had put a hold on new rentals. He needed a place to recover once he was well enough to travel, and you know the magic of Last Chance Beach has a way of healing all wounds.”

“You forgot to tell me you rented the house to a stranger. What are we supposed to do?” Inwardly, she sighed. There was no way her uncle would ever rent the house to anyone sketchy.

“Any chance you two can stay under the same roof for a few days? I’ll make a few calls and see if I can find a new rental for Patrick.”

She rolled her shoulders. Not that her uncle could see it but it made her feel better. “I guess, but do me a favor and make sure the rental listing is hidden on RD. I don’t want anyone else showing up as a surprise houseguest.”

He gave a hearty chuckle. “I promise that won’t happen and I’m sure in no time, you two will adjust to living under one roof, at least for a few days.”

Under her breath, she muttered, “Don’t count on it.” Louder, she said, “Give Aunt Joan a hug for me.”

“Will do, and we’ll talk soon.”

She hit the end button and studied Patrick Ryan. He was easy on the eyes, with his dark-brown hair in an old-fashioned style, deep-blue eyes with crinkles at the corners, and a crooked nose that had obviously been broken at one time. Why did he have to sport deep dimples in both cheeks? It was her weakness in any guy—the deeper the dimple, the harder she’d fall.

“So, Patrick, it seems that we’re stuck together for a while until my uncle can make some calls to other cottage owners.”

A new Wylder West addition from The Wild Rose Press and author Tena Stetler

I adore it when my Wild Rose Press sistahs come to visit. The press had a new and popular series called The Wylder West and my friend and fellow author Tena Stetler has a new addition to the series that releases today! I’m so honored she chose to spend release day with me. Let me introduce Tena so she can tell you all about her new book!

Tena…take it away!

Hey there Peg! I’m thrilled to be on your fantastic blog today. Thank you for allowing me to share a few reasons why you should read my new release, AN ANGEL’S WYLDER ASSIGNMENT, part of the multi-author Wylder West Series from The Wild Rose Press. All books in the sears can be read as a stand-alone.

Top Eleven Reasons You Should Read An Angel’s Wylder Assignment

  1.  Take a Wylder ride to the past with a Warrior Angel and Native American Shifter to save the future.
  2. You love stories with scenes set in Scotland
  3. Find out Chinoah and Killian’s  secrets. (You know they first appeared in An Angel’s Unintentional Entanglement as secondary characters. They were larger than life and wanted their own story.)
  4. Someone breached the Scottish Mists with dark intentions and disappeared into the past. Why?
  5. You enjoyed the other books in the Wylder Series and want to see what has happened now in Wylder, Wyoming.
  6. There is the cutest dog introduced into the story. Yes, she almost steals the story and quite a few scenes, not to mention saves a life.
  7. Find out who sent Killian and Chinoah into the past and why.
  8. You love time travel, historical, paranormal, Western, Scottish adventures.
  9. Someone is plotting against Killian and Chinoah, find out who and why.
  10. . You need a break from your ordinary world to be swept into a romantic, fantasy adventure tinged with mystery that you may never want to leave.
  11. You know writing historical is out of my wheelhouse and want to find out if I pulled it off. LOL

AN ANGEL’S WYLDER ASSIGNMENT

Warrior Angel Killian Dugan’s annual trip to the family castle in Scotland is shattered by the arrival of Legion Commander North. Killian’s skills are needed for an urgent time travel assignment. A rogue demon has escaped back in time. He must discover the why and where then stop the demon before it can damage the past and change the future.

Killian’s girlfriend Chinoah Grace, a Native American shapeshifter is included in the mission, which takes them to the wild west town of Wylder, Wyoming in 1878. She will have her hands full fitting in and making friends. Nothing is as it seems. They encounter visions, spirit quests, and a mysterious shaman. On top of it all, blending in as a blacksmith is more physically difficult than he imagined. But not as challenging as keeping his hands off his undercover wife. Will they complete their assignment or run out of time?

Inside the family castle in Scotland, Killian put aside his warrior angel duties and relaxed in front of a roaring fire with Chinoah, a Native American wolf shifter.

He idly swirled wine in a cut crystal glass, watching the flames glint off the burgundy liquid. It was his duty to take care of the property while his cousin, Tavish, and his family were on holiday before the highland’s harsh winter weather set in.

This year he’d be staying through the holidays, though Chinoah didn’t know it yet.

Who says a battle-ready warrior angel couldn’t handle both duty and family. Bollocks to that.  His best friend, Caden, did it. Well, kinda.Legion Commander Nathanial North balanced both just fine.

He slipped an arm around Chinoah. She cuddled into him as he pulled the patchwork quilt Jalen, Tavish’s wife, had made and given them to celebrate their hard-won relationship status of dating. One step at a time, Chinoah had requested.

The brass door knocker echoed through the castle announcing visitors.

With a raised brow, he peered at Chinoah. “Expecting guests, are we?”

“Not as far as I know.” She got to her feet and padded across the stone floor.

“Wait.” Grumbling, he pushed up from the cozy warm couch, slipped his socked feet back into his boots, and clomped toward her. “Best let me answer the door since we don’t know who’s waiting on the other side.”

She slowed her pace to allow him to catch up with her. “This castle is huge. By the time we get to the door, the visitors may be gone.” She giggled.

“Way to keep in shape.” Chuckling, he kissed her. “Apparently, my cousin made the original great hall into their family living space.”

“God help us if we’re in the bed-chamber when someone comes calling.” She snickered. “We’d have to sprint down the balcony hallway, across the split staircase, and through the great hall. By then, the visitors would have decided no one was home.”

“Which could have been Tavish’s plan.” He smiled at the thought. “Besides, I didn’t hear you complain last evening when you thundered through the castle for a couple of hours on four paws.”

“That was different. My wolf needed the exercise, and you didn’t want me to go outside.” Her lips formed a pout that he found irresistible.

“Didn’t want to spring you from a trap.” He turned his attention out the window where the snow swirled in the howling wind. “Besides, who in bloody hell would be calling at this time of night and in this weather?”

She raised an eyebrow and shrugged. “Only one group of individuals I know.”

“Oh, no. I’m on leave. They didn’t know where I was going. Besides, they wouldn’t expect me to be here.” The ancient wooden door groaned then made a squeeing sound when Killian yanked it open. “What in tarnation are you doing here?”

Still Moments Magazine – Darlene Fredette

The story is engaging with a beautiful setting in Wylder, WY, but it’s the characters that make this story fun to read.  This western, paranormal book was an enjoyable read!
