Thoughts on a booksigning…

This past weekend, I attended the debut author/reader event, ROMANCE in CNY, in Utica, New York.

And I have a few thoughts…

For a debut event – and let me repeat that for those in the back of the room – DEBUT EVENT, the entire day was perfect. The event was extremely well attended by readers of all romance reading ilks; the authors were varied in their writing genres within romance, and plentiful – I think over 60 were in attendance. Two of the hotel’s ballrooms were used, so the authors were able to spread out and not feel like sardines in a can. This made it a more enjoyable experience for the readers as well as they were not pushing and shoving around one another to get to their fav’s table. If you’ve never been to an author booksigning, you can’t imagine what carnage ensues when rooms and tables are packed to the hilt and you can’t get to your fav author. As an author, I never want to disappoint a reader who is looking to speak to me or buy a book, and at some events, this happens due to cramping the room.

There were multiple vendors who were in attendance as well, selling everything from sweet treats to tote bags. I gained weight just passing one of the tables featuring cupcakes, cake pops, and other delicious baked treats!

The Podcast SEX. LOVE. Literature was in attendance for the day and hosted two author panel discussions on romance tropes, one of which I was honored to participate in as a guest.

The event organizers provided a light breakfast/snack fare for the authors – which was so thoughtful – and the myriad of volunteers were constantly walking around asking if the authors needed anything. You have no idea how wonderful that is unless you’ve spent 5 hours on your feet without a bathroom break or a bottle of water in a hot, overstuffed room filled with too many authors and readers and all cramped together because the event organizer oversold the event. I have, and do know what that feels like. It’s not pleasant in the least!

The volunteers were all wonderful and truly wanted to be there – another plus!

A local tattoo artist was in attendance and I saw many readers walking around with seran wrap on their arms to protect their new – bookish themed – tatoos from NEVERMORE TATTOOS

One of the highlights of the day were the puppies. Yes, I said Puppies! A local pet adoption group, ROVER’S SO OVER RESCUE AND RETREAT had 4 puppies come in and love on everyone. The pups were up for adoption and if I could have – I would have taken all 4!! Here’s one of the little darlings, Enzo:

Many of you may know that I was using this booksigning as an attempt to raise money for a dear friend of mine whose house burned to the ground on Easter Sunday. There is a Gofund me page set up for her and her family and I wanted to use the proceeds from the sale of my books to help her. Unfortuntately, I didn’t sell as many books as I wanted, but I am going to continue using my book sales this month to help, so if you want to offer assistance in any way, you can donate to the GoFund me page, or order books directly from me on this website and I will donate the proceeds.

All in all, the event was a top five author signing for me – maybe even top 3! I have already filled out and submitted a request form to come back to next year’s signing!

Brava Chrissy Kullman and all the wonderful people who made this event happen. Thank you for an amazeballs day!

NOT a #TBT 9.19.24

I usually do a throwback Thursday on this day, but I’ve got something more important to talk about so it’s getting shelved for this week.

This is just a reminder ( again!) that I’ll be at BOOKSBOOKSBOOKS2024 this weekend in Lancaster, PA at the Wyndham Expo Barn.

I attended this event for the first time last year and had such a remarkable time I wanted to do it again, so I was lucky enough to get in for 2024.

If you’re attending YAY!. I’ve got 2 tables this year because I am a sponsor, so come and visit me at tables 15 and 16. I will have all my Christmas books – Dickens and San Valentino family – all my NYC Socialite series books ( 1-5), A Pride of Brothers ( 1-3) and my award-winning 2024 suspense Retribution all for sale.

Plus lots of swag and stuff!

I hope you can make it and if you can, don’t be shy about stopping by and saying hello. This is such a wonderful event. You’ll find me next to my big, pepto bismol colored logoed banner:

Happy Thursday, kids!

A #TuesdayTease a #booksiging & a #newrelease OH MY!

I love titles with 3 things mentioned!!! Makes me think of the Wizard of OZ – lions and tigers and bears…oh my!. LOL

Anyhoo…

Today’s Tuesday tease is from my new (print) release of SABLE – ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID. The official release is May 17, but I had several author copies printed up because I’m going to a wonderful BOOKSIGNING this weekend in New Jersey Wine Country and wanted to have them available for purchase. Here’s the tease, first:

“Rough shift,” he said, sidling up to her as she buttoned her jacket.

“And it wasn’t even a full moon,” she quipped.

His grin shot out fast. “Can’t wait to see what that’s like in the ER.”

Her lids went to half-mast as she slid a glance at him. “Be careful what you wish for,” she said. “Full moons are nothing to make fun of around here.”

He shrugged and zipped up his jacket. “Can’t be any worse than trying to patch someone up with artillery fire exploding all around you.”

Her head whipped up and her unlined brow folded in on itself.

“Listen,” he said, “I’m starving and I imagine you are, too, since neither of us got a dinner break last night. Want to go grab something quick before heading home? The diner across the street makes the best waffles this side of the Mississippi.”

When a corner of her mouth lifted a bit, he felt ten feet tall. In the next instant it flattened again.

“I’m actually heading there for a breakfast meeting right now, so, sorry. I can’t.”

“Business meeting?”

When she rolled her eyes, he thought she looked all of sixteen years old again. Since he’d known her when she was that age, a familiar feeling of warmth moved within him.

Sable expelled a tortured groan. There was no other way to describe the sound that rumbled up from the back of her throat and blew past her lips.

“I wish it were a business meeting, but no.” When he cocked his head, she added, “I’m meeting with my cousin, Moira. She has something to”—she lifted her fingers in air quotes—“discuss with me, but I already know what it is and I really wish I had an excuse not to go.”

“Okay, now I’m seriously interested. What’s so horrible she wants to talk about?”

“Me.” Another eye roll.

“You?”

She nodded.

“What about you?”

“Not me specifically, I guess, but my unmarried, childless state.”

If he wasn’t mistaken there was a hint of bitterness in her tone, topped by a whole lot of embarrassment, solidified when her cheeks turned three different shades of crimson within a millisecond.

She closed her eyes and sighed. “I can’t believe I said that out loud. And to you, of all people,” she mumbled.

He’d think about the last part of her sentence later. For now, he said, “Let me take a guess here.”

She opened her eyes and – halleluiah – looked him in the eye.

“She wants to fix you up.”

Eyes closed again, she nodded.

“And you…what? Don’t want to be?”

Another nod.

“Because? You don’t like to be set up? Or you’re already seeing someone?”

He said a silent prayer it wasn’t the latter.

“The whole thing is ridiculously embarrassing, for starters,” she said. “I’m thirty years old and can get my own dates, thank you very much. But you’d think I was either twelve and knew nothing about the world the way my family acts, or pushing fifty and looking at a lonely later life with nothing for companionship but cats and Netflix movies.”

He wanted to laugh but kept the merriment inside him, understanding she was dead serious. She hadn’t said she was seeing someone, though, so that was telling.

And promising.

AND NOW the BOOK SIGNING:

I’ll be there both days!!! Come out and find some new romance authors to read, have some wine, bring some friends!! This promises to be a FUNFUNFUN event put on by the fabulous Roz Lee

And if you’re coming to the event and want to make sure you get a copy of thebooks I’ll be brining along, here’s a copy of the event preorder list for me: PREORDER

Toadstool Bookshop appearance 12.4.2022 #booksigning #holidayromancebooks

So excited to announce I’ll be at the TOADSTOOL Bookshop in Keene next Sunday, 12.4. from 2-4 pm signing books and talking about all things Christmas romance related.

I would love to see you!!! If you’re out holiday shopping, stop by, sit for a while and chat and, of course (LOL) buy a book for yourself or someone on your holiday romance reading list.

here are the deets:

KEENE ~ Hosts local romance author Peggy Jaeger!

Sunday, December 4th at 2pm

Peggy Jaeger

She will be at the Toadstool presenting her Christmas titles along with her 2022 book releases!

I’m a #contemporaryromance writer who writes #RomComs about strong women, the families who support them, and the men who can’t live without them. If I can make you cry on one page and bring you out of tears rolling with laughter the next, I’ve done my job as a writer!

#Family and #food play huge roles in my stories because I believe there is nothing that holds a family structure together like sharing a meal…or two…or ten. Dotted with humor and characters that are as real as they are loving, I bring all topics of daily life into my stories: life, death, sibling rivalry, illness and the desire for everyone to find their own happily ever after. Growing up the only child of divorced parents I longed for sisters, brothers and a family that vowed to stick together no matter what came their way. Through my books, I’ve created the families I wanted as that lonely child.

As a lifelong diarist, I caught the blogging bug early on, and you can visit me at peggyjaeger.com where I’m blogging about life, writing, and stuff that makes me go “What??!” daily.

I’m a social media junkie! You can visit me at all these sites any day and I’ll probably be there.

FALL IN LOVE NEW ENGLAND reader and author conference makes the news!

Last weekend I had a ball at the FILNE held in Boxoborough, MA. I wasn’t able to attend last year because….Covid. But this year? Yeah, I went with bells on and pulled out all the bells and whistles for my missed year.

Recently. the conference made the news and spotlighted myself and author Linda Kepner. We are both NHRWA chaptermates and live near/adjacent to Peterborough.

Here’s the article in it’s entirety: FILNE

I’m already doing prep work for next year’s conference!!! Buying swag and thinking about my sponsored tabled decorations.

Honestly, this is too much fun!!! I’ll post the registration for readers once I have it and maybe – HOPEFULLY – I’ll see some of you there in 2022!
