#SundaySnippet 9.20.2020

I never got around to doing  teaser Thursday this week, so today’s alliteration will do. Hee hee.

From my upcoming release of MISTLETOE, MOBSTERS, & MOZZARELLA. Meeting the guy 18 years later that you gave more than your heart to when you were 17 is awkward anywhere it happens. When it occurs right after you’ve found a murdered body? Well, it’s traumatic to say the very least.

I knew those eyes.

Intimately.

When they weren’t filled with anger and pain, like they were right now, I knew how captivating they could be. The palest of blue and heavily lashed, they tilted up a tiny bit at the corners. Jealousy ramped through me. How unfair was it a man was gifted eyes like this when I’d been cursed with the most dull and boring brown color ever blended?

Light hair, a mix of natural honey and wheat husks, straight and clipped short covered his head. Shoulders spanning almost as wide as the doorframe were covered by a dark tan sports jacket, the pants a deeper hue of the same color palette.

“Donna,” Angelo said, his voice thick with fear, “why’d you attack Detective Roma?”

“I didn’t attack…wait? Detective?”

I tried to lick some moisture back into my lips but my salivary glands had gone dormant during the flight or fight response. I glanced at each of the men standing in front me, stopping last on the one Ange had referred to as a detective.

With one hand still cupping his jaw where my knee connected, the man pierced me with his gorgeous gaze and just like I had when I’d been seventeen and climbed into the back seat of his brand new Z8, I lost what little sanity I still had.

“Hey Donna,” Tony Roma said, shaking his head. “Long time and all. I see you’re still as sweet and mild mannered as ever.”

Intrigued? You can preorder it now or wait until 10.14.2020 to get it. Personally, I love me a pre-order.

#SundaySnippet 6.21.2020

With the release of my newest book on July 1, it makes sense today’s snipper be used as a teaser.

I’m devious that way. Hee hee

from WOKE available for preorder now, exclusively at Amazon.

One of the disadvantages of sleeping through the tech and social media revolution was that I was way behind the learning curve when compared with people my age. Attempting a deep dive on the Internet to locate Detective Ramon was a time consuming job, and for me, not an easy one.

He wasn’t listed in any phone directory I could find, nor could I simply call the local precinct and ask for him. HIPPA laws protected medical privacy and I imagined something similar applied to the privacy of police officers so people with an ax to grind couldn’t find out where they lived.

I tried a different tactic and for the first time since I woke up, did what I swore I would never do and Googled my name. Thousands of links burst across my screen, so I narrowed the scope and added the words coma and police investigation.

This time I only had a few hundred items to go over.

There were cited articles in all the New York papers for the week following the birthday party about what had happened, attached to headlines like Russet Rory O.D.s at lavish birthday bash, and Pill Popping Party Princess with a very unflattering picture of me, drunk, on the screen. I know the picture wasn’t taken the date of my birthday because the dress I was wearing was from when I turned eighteen. I scrolled through a few more links that reported my admission to the hospital and then the story died down. My name was mentioned once again when my father died, then nothing more.

The problem with Internet searches is they lead you down numerous rabbit holes that have nothing to do with the information you’re trying to unearth

I was getting frustrated when I remembered what my mother had told me about my father calling in favors to make my investigation a priority. One of those favors was married to my godmother, Elinda, one of my mother’s childhood friends. Her husband was the former Police Commissioner.

After ten minutes of social catching up, I broached the real intention of my call.

“Aunt Linda, I was wondering if Uncle Pete is home. I want to ask him a question and I need his expertise.”

“Of course, darling. He’s in his man cave doing who knows what. Give me a moment.”

I knew Elinda’s definition of a man cave was nothing more than her husband’s study.

#SundaySnippet First one of 2020~ 1.5.20 ; A PRIDE OF BROTHERS:RICK

It’s a little hard for me to believe 2020 is here already. It seems like just yesterday it was 1.1.19.

Oh well….

I have a brand new ROMANTIC SUSPENSE series starting this year titled A PRIDE OF BROTHERS and the very first book, RICK is dropping on 1.13.20 so it seems apropos I post my very first Sunday Snippet of 2020 with a little scene from the book.

Blurb:

Elite bodyguard and P.I. Rick Bannerman’s job is to protect. He doesn’t get emotional with his clients, but when a woman from his past is threatened, his next job becomes personal.

Family lawyer Abigail Laine is the target of a client’s vengeful husband, but refuses Rick’s offer of protection. He walked away from her four years ago, and she swore to forget him.

Now her reluctance to accept his help could cost Abby her life.

As she reached out to clutch the table for support, a pair of firm hands seized her upper arms from behind.

“Easy there, Abigail.”

Abby’s entire body stilled. In a heartbeat, she went from tipsy to stone-cold sober as the smooth, deep timbre of that voice washed over her.

“Reception hasn’t started yet. Wouldn’t do for one of Kandy’s minions to go down before the band even warms up.”

When her arms were freed a moment later, Abby whirled around to find a pair of chocolate-drop-colored eyes trained on her from a face hand carved by the gods of gorgeous. Hair as dark as unprocessed coal was cut military short. Dark, thick lashes framed his almond- shaped eyes, and his mouth was pulled into a totally charming smirk that she wanted to kiss off his chiseled face.

Why did simply looking at him make her stomach act like a roller coaster spiraling downward and back to the station?

“Minions? Really, Bannerman?”

He had the nerve to grin. “Well, you are required to blindly follow and do everything Kandy tells you to without argument, aren’t you? Sounds pretty accurate to me.”

“You’re wearing a tuxedo. Does that make you one of Josh’s minions?” She raked a finger up and down his ridiculously well-cut black lapel.

A free and easy laugh kicked her square in her already shaking stomach. “Not in this lifetime.” His eyes crinkled at the corners. “He’s got two brothers who can more than fill the bill. I’m merely a humble wedding guest.”

Humble was hardly the word she’d use to describe him. At six two and a solid, muscular two hundred pounds, Rick Bannerman was cocky, sinfully sexy, and a total player. Exactly the kind of man she knew she shouldn’t be drawn to, but God help her, was.

Intrigued? You can preorder your copy here and have it as soon as it’s released on 1.13.20:

In a week, a lot can happen…..

Hee hee. Ominous title for a blog, no?!! I don’t mean it to be because I’m talking about the 7 more days – or as the kids say – 7 more sleeps – until IT’S A TRUST THING releases into the ebook reading world.

Have you preorderd your copy yet? Maybe reading that little snippet on the ad above will motivate you. Hee Hee

Nell Newbery has trust issues. It’s hard to trust when you’re the daughter of a fallen financial scion who bilked people out of billions. Nell’s done everything in her power to keep away from men who see her as their ticket to fortune and fame. All she wants to do is run her ultra-successful business, HELPFUL HUNKS, in peace.

But it wouldn’t hurt to find a guy who doesn’t know a thing about her father’s felonious past; one she can give her heart to and trust it won’t come back to her battered, bruised, and broken.

Is Charlie Churchill that guy? On the surface he seems perfect, all polished manners and quiet mirth. Nell’s convinced he knows nothing about her, other than she likes superhero movies and views junk food as a food group.

Can she trust him to be what he appears to be? Or is he just pretending?

For Nell, trust is everything in life…and in love.

Happy reading…

Until next time ~Peg

Book trailer for It’s A Trust Thing….

I’ve made so many great friends and met so many wonderful writers and people since I started my writing journey. Nancy Fraser is one of them. Not only is she an award winning writer, she’s also a damn fine graphic producer and artist. She made my book trailer to Dirty Damsels and did such a  great job I asked her to do one for my 11.1.19 release of It’s a Trust Thing. I think it captures the essence of the book perfectly. Have a gander:

Isn’t it great!!!??

Remember, It’s a Trust Thing is up for pre-order right now and will be available ONLY in Kindle and KU. And if you haven’t read DIRTY DAMSELS yet, let me whet your appetite with Nancy’s trailer for that book, too! Hee hee

Until next time ~ Peg

Flying by the seat of my pants and saying a prayer ( or two or twenty!)

A little ominous for a blog title, no? Hee hee

The reference is to the upcoming release of my first Indie book on 11.1.19, It’s a Trust Thing.

Flying  by the seat of my pants refers to the fact that I learned everything about getting the book up on Amazon by myself. I asked a few Indie friends some questions ( hat’s off to Clair Brett!) for clarity, but for the most part I watched all the KDP tutorials and then just played around a bunch on the program to get the manuscript uploadable to Amazon.

From where I’m sitting, when I look at the “preview” screen of the book, it looks good. Release day will tell the true tale, though. I’ve ordered it to deliver to my kindle on release day – and yes, I really did. What better way to see how every other kindle reader will view the pages than to be a, well, kindle reader!? So I’ll be able to see if there any any issues with the download, how it looks, is formatted, etc. Because it’s self-published, I can go into the program again and fix any bugs. That’s one good thing about indie publishing – you have complete control over the manuscript.

Until that date comes, though, I am sitting here, a nervous Nelly to the max – which is kinda funny since my heroine’s name is Nell. Hee Hee.

In the interim, I’m writing the next two books I owe to WRP and trying not to stress too much. I gotta tell you, though, it’s wicked hard not to.

Tomorrow I’m going to show you all the sample covers I made for the book before I settled on this one:

Until next time ~ Peg

Updates, preorders, and positive support….oh my! ( heehee)

Feel like you’ve been dropped into the Wizard of Oz? No worries – you haven’t. It’s just me being silly. Coming up with post titles is as hard as coming up with book titles.

But I digress…

The purpose of today’s blog is to tell you a bit about my upcoming first Indie release IT’S A TRUST THING.

First, this is the second book in the DotComGirls series, with book 1 being DIRTY DAMSELS,

where you met best friends Ella Jones and Nell Newbery.

Second, It’s a Trust Thing is Nell’s story. Here’s a quick look at the book blurb:

Third, the book will release on 11/1/19 and is exclusively offered in Kindle and KU ( No print books this time!) Who knows, though. Maybe, if I want to take the next step and up my learning curve to print on demand, I will. For now, digital only.

If this tickles your fancy in the book reading department, please go ahead and pre-order it here: IATT

And if you really want to do a nervous nelly of an author a favor – and that would be ME!! – ADD it to your Goodreads page as TO READ. Here’s the link for the book on Goodreads: IATT

This Sunday, 9.29.19, I’ll be blogging a Sunday Snippet about Nell, so drop by for a sneak peek. Oh, and because marketing never ends, I have a pinterest page devoted to the book and characters as well: PINTEREST

Before I get way too obnoxious, I’ll leave…

So…I did a thing.

No, Hell hasn’t frozen over yet, although with all the climate change problems, that may become a reality sooner than expected.

But…

I’m joining the Indie ranks of publishing!

You may be wondering why I finally joined the bandwagon of Indie authors after resisting for so long. It’s a valid question, especially since I vowed I’d never go that route because the learning curve is more than my mind can fathom! Indie authors are amazing to me because there is so much they need to know and do to get a book into print. Plus, the money it requires to do so.

But….

When Limitless Publishing accepted DIRTY DAMSELS (DotComGirls book 1) for publication, I already had book two, Helpful Hunks, written. When I submitted it, the publisher decided not to contract any more books in the series for monetary reasons. I get that. Publishing is a business and publishers are grappling day to day to compete with the growing hoard of self-published books. Investing money when they don’t think they are going to see a return is just poor business sense.

But…

I already had the second book written and the third plotted. When Limitless informed me I could either publish the book on my own or take it to another publisher, I didn’t want to wait another year or so and countless emails, revisions, etc. going the traditional route would have needed.  I wanted to get the book out a.s.a.p. The answer, really, was the only one that made sense to me: self-pub it.

So, a title change from Helpful Hunks to IT’S A TRUST THING, countless hours learning how to get it published, and lots of sweat, money, and sleepless nights, and here we are. The book will be released on 11.1.19 and the preorder link is live. The book will only be available in Kindle and KU, only. I simply didn’t have the brain power left to figure out the rest of the online venues (Heehee).

Any mistakes in the manuscript, be they spelling or tense, or anything else you can find, are strictly on me. This was an experiment from beginning to end just to see if I could do it.

Thanks for reading, thanks for reviewing, and the only thing I ask is that you be kind. Remember, to authors, their words are like their children. When you bash them, it truly is like bashing their kids.

Until next time ~ Peg
