Here’s a little snippet from my debut romance novel SKATER’S WALTZ.

perf5.000x8.000.indd

When Tiffany declares her feelings for Cole, he’s anything but receptive…

Heat oozed from her body as she glowered at him. “And to think,” she said, glaring hard at his laughing face, her voice quiet and tight, “I fell hopelessly, endlessly in love with you that day. I should have known you’d turn out to be such a creep. What a waste my life has been, pining after you, waiting for you to notice me, longing after you with every breath. God, what a moron …”

Tiffany stopped. Mouth agape, eyes wide and clear, she stopped tugging on the towel and opened her hand in surrender.

Cole didn’t let go of her wrist. He couldn’t, not after what she’d just confessed. Her face had gone pale again, her lips turning to chalk. He dropped the ring back to its chain and saw it glinting in the light, lying over the small upsweep of her breasts made bare by their struggle. Breasts he suddenly felt an intense need to cup, kiss, and nuzzle.

He didn’t know how to respond. Her words were true; there was no doubt about it. No explanation necessary.

“Tiffany, I…don’t know what to say.”

With a jagged breath, she threw back her head. Choking on a sob, she told him, “You don’t have to say anything, Cole. Really.”

My Sexy Saturday #118 – Their Sexy Gaze…

mysexySat

Welcome to the 118th week of My Sexy Saturday. Click here to visit other author websites participating in the MSS blog hop.

This week’s theme: Their Sexy Gaze

Have you ever seen a couple who look so adoringly at each other? Makes you wonder just what they are thinking about. Are they thinking about the last time they made love? Or how about the conversation they just had?

The point is that lovers have eyes only for each other. Sometimes the gaze is loving and sometimes not but you always know they are a couple destined to be together forever.

Sexy can be anything, such as romantic moments like walks on the beach, a home cooked meal or even in another galaxy. It could be two lovers here on Earth dreaming about the day where they go on a magical vacation to another planet. Or staying right here at one of those wonderful places we can find in our own world.

Sexy has nothing to do with looks or status or even wealth. It doesn’t demand perfection and it isn’t pretentious but it does make us want to read those books.

We know that everyone has their own idea of sexy and we all love sexy!

Here’s a little gaze action from my debut romance novel SKATER’S WALTZ.

perf5.000x8.000.indd

Tiffany tried to pull back again, but Cole’s sturdy arms prevented her. “No. I want to feel you against me. This is a poor substitute for having you in bed, but it’ll have to do until we can beg off and leave. Which, I’m hoping, we can do soon. I can’t take much more of this. A few more minutes and I don’t know what I’ll do for relief.”

“Geez.” Tiffany shook her head against him. “A little sex and you get all super charged and demanding.”

This time Cole was the one to pull back. His eyes had turned hard and serious as he looked down at her. “Never say that again, Tiff. What we did together today, what we started, is more than just a little sex, and you know it as well as I do.”

Held prisoner by his stare, Tiffany swallowed the ball that had formed at the back of her throat.

Almost 2 weeks into NaNoWriMo…

and I’m still plugging away.

nanowrimo

By the halfway mark, many writers fall into  a plot hole abyss, wrestle with a character who wants to take over the story, or they come to the realization the story line isn’t really keeping their attention. And just for clarity’s sake, this happens to all writers whether they are doing the NaNo challenge or not. The difference in November is that you only have two weeks left in the challenge to fulfill that 50,000-word minimum and declare a win.

Pressure, much? Stress, maybe?

nervous-woman-cartoon

No worries.

The best thing about the NaNoWriMo challenge is the only person you are competing against is YOU. Now is not the time to start editing or switching POV, or changing the rudimentary goals, motivations and conflicts of your hero and heroine. Now is the time to freestyle and just write it all out. December  ( and the rest of the new year )is for editing and refining. Tweaking and changing.

Now, the goal is to write – albeit you want it to be good writing, that goes without saying. But as long as you are pounding forward, getting those fingers on the laptop keys, or writing out long hand, you are winning.

The tagline for my website is Writing is my Oxygen, because I need to write in order to exist, just like I need to breathe in order to live. A day without writing something, anything, to me, is a wasted day. I approach NaNo the same way. As long as I am pushing forward on the story, I am in the positive column. And even if I get to 11:30 pm November 30 and still need 500 more words to get over the finish line, at least I know I got that far.

To me, partaking in the NaNoWriMo challenge IS the win. The 50k words are just the cherries on top.

A visit with Author Louise Lyndon

One of my favorite things about being a writer is being exposed to new talented writers. Louise Lyndon is one of those talented new authors I’ve recently met through my publisher THE WILD ROSE PRESS. A native Aussie, she lives in Melbourne ( and how jealous am I of that??!) and writes historical romances. You can learn all about her below, and then stick around for a juicy read from her recently released book Of Love And Betrayal – and what a hothothot cover she has, too!

LouiseLyndonAuthorPic

Part 1: The Writer Questions

  1. What drives you to write? I write because I find that I can’t not write! I know a lot of authors say that and hand on my heart, it’s true. It’s very hard to explain. My head is constantly full with snippets of dialogue or scenes and the longer I try to ignore them, the louder the voices get, the more vivid the scene becomes. And if I don’t write them down then I become extremely frustrated. It’s like I’m denying myself something. I get antsy if I don’t write. So really, I write so the voices in my head don’t get too loud! There are a lot of voices in there.
  1. What genre(s) of Romance do your write, and why? I write historical romance set during the medieval period – because that’s where my characters told me they were from. I’m a slave to my characters!
  1. What genre(s) of Romance do you read, and why? I don’t have one particular subgenre I read. I really do enjoy reading a cross range.
  1. What’s your writing schedule? Do you write everyday? Yes. I’m particularly driven at the moment and I have a weekday writing goal of a thousand words, and on the weekend it’s 5000 for Saturday and Sunday.
  1. Give us a glimpse of the surroundings where you write. Separate room? In the kitchen? At the dining room table? I don’t have a dedicated writing space, and I know that I really should. I have a spare room that I keep meaning to turn into my writing room but I have yet to set it up. So, at the moment I’ve been writing crossed legged on my couch – which is a good thing because it’s been winter here and cold and the lounge room is where the heater is!
  1. Are you the kind of writer who needs total quiet to compose, or are you able to filter out the typical sounds of the day and use your tunnelvision? I used to be someone that could only write in silence. But that has changed now. I actually write with the TV on – but with it volume turned down low. I just need a bit of background noise, but I find music too distracting.
  1. Do you listen to music while you write, and if so, what kind? If not, why not? No. I find music too distracting to write to. I often will hear a song I like, turn up the volume, and start singing. Which means I stop writing!
  1. How did you come up with the plotline/idea for your current WIP? I was procrastinating doing the housework! Of Love and Vengeance (my first release) was only ever going to be a stand alone book. But, to avoid doing the housework, I started to put together the hero and heroine’s family tree. I listed their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and while I was looking at the list one name kept popping up – Troy. One of the grandsons. I kept thinking about him. Who was he? What influence did the hero and heroine of the first book have on him? What’s his journey? I kept asking myself loads of questions and always raising the stakes until I had an outline of a story.
  1. Which comes first for you – character or plot? And why? For my new release, Of Love and Betrayal, it was definitely the character who came first. As I mentioned earlier, Troy came about because I was doing his grandparent’s family tree. But, that aside, the characters always seem to come to me first. They just pop into my head and I build from there.
  1. What 3 words describes you, the writer? Organized. Motivated. Determined.

The Person Questions:

  1. Tell us one unusual thing about yourself – not related to writing! I like to run Spartan Races! (Peggy here – I would LOVE to know what these are!!)
  1.  Who was your first love and what age were you? I won’t mention names – but it was when I was still at primary school. I think I was in grade five or six. I went to a country school and we used to have ‘group days’ with other schools in the area to meet other kids. He was a boy there. I don’t think he knew I existed!
  1. If you could relive one day, which one would it be? Think GROUNDHOG DAY, the movie for this one – you’ll have to live it over and over and… Ooooh, good question! I think I would have to pick one of the Christmas’ I spent with my sister and her twins. We always have such a great day. Why not keep reliving it?
  1. Do you like a guy in boxers, briefs, or commando? Boxers. No competition! Sometimes it’s best to leave things to the imagination.
  1. If you had to give up one necessary-can’t-live-without-it beauty item, what would it be? Noooo, I can’t decide. Moisteriser. I know – we should really use it, and I do. But I keep forgetting to, on most days, so giving it up may not be too bad.
  1. What three words describes you, the person? Reliable. Honest. Loyal.
  1. If you could sing a song with Jimmy Fallon, what would it be? Take me to Church by Hozier (Peggy here – one of my favs, too!)
  1. If you could hang out with any literary character from any book penned at any time line, who would it by, why, and what would you do together? James Fraser! No competition. As for why? Have you seen Outlander (the TV series)? As for what we would do together? Again, have you seen Outlander?

Bonus round

I love the Actor’s Studio show on Bravo, so this is my version of it:

  1. Favorite sound Laughter.
  1. Least favorite sound Someone screaming in fear.
  1. Best song every written Take Me To Church by Hozier.

Hozier-

  1. Worst song ever written Anything by Nicki Manaj.
  1. Favorite actor and actress Bradley Cooper. Aside from the fact he’s good looking, I really do think he’s a great actor. I don’t really have a favorite actress.

bradcooper

  1. Who would you want to be for 1 day and why? ( It can be anyone living or dead) A billionaire – so I could donate all my money to help homeless people.
  1. What turns you on? A sense of humor.
  1. What turns you off? Those who think they are better than others and who have no problem belittling others to betwice themselves.
  1. Give me the worst 5 words ever heard on a first date (here’s mine: “Is that your real hair?”) I thought you’d look different.
  1. What’s your version of a perfect day? Being able to write from morning to night with no interruptions!

Of Love and Betrayal by Louise Lyndon

BLURB:

Aveline de Bondeville is on the run. Determined to keep out of the hands of the cruel Raimbaut de Blois she will do whatever it takes to stay alive. And so when she finds herself in the company of Troy de Gysborne she must quickly decide if she can trust him. But can she confess to murder knowing it would mean her certain death?

Troy de Gysborne did the unthinkable; he tore the bonds of brotherhood and left a path of destruction in his wake. And now Troy must face those he betrayed, including the father who long ago renounced him. But to confess to the crime he committed will cost him everything. Including Aveline. But can he remain silent if it means losing the woman he loves?

Excerpt:

Aveline’s scream burned her throat; she tasted blood. Eudes staggered forward, his eyes wide. He looked at her as he fell to his knees and then slumped forward. Bright red blood rushed from his wound and pooled on the ground. She looked at Raimbaut.

“This time you shall not escape.”

She picked up her skirts and ran headlong into the forest and did not slow her speed as branches slapped her in the face and tore at her arms. The ground beneath her feet was icy and uneven. She risked a glance over her shoulder and did not stop even though Raimbaut was nowhere to be seen. He may not have been behind her, but it did not mean he was not stalking her.

Sweat trickled down her face and burned her eyes. Her heart pumped, her lungs gasped for air. She came to a skidding stop and looked wildly around. Should she keep running straight, go left or right, or make her way back to Gysborne? She turned in a circle and shoved her hair from her eyes.

A twig snapped behind her. She stilled and held her breath. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a blur rush by. Was it an animal? Was it Raimbaut?

She ignored the pain in her chest and her sudden need to loosen her bladder. But she could not ignore her trembling. She clutched her arms to her chest. A sour taste flooded her mouth as she did not see how she would be lucky enough a second time to escape from Raimbaut.

Something About Sexy

Welcome to the 115th week of My Sexy Saturday.

mysexySat

This week’s theme: Something About Sexy

This week’s theme can be anything from fun and quirky to dark and serious. We as authors all know that there is just something about writing these sexy books. We can’t put our finger on it, sometimes we can’t even define it but we know we wouldn’t do anything else. We write our sexy characters because we love to do so. We love our characters, we love that sexy can be what we define and we love to bring that idea of sexy to our readers. We love sexy and it shows. Still, these books have hot characters and an even hotter love story and we’d love for you to share your sexy snippet with us.

Here’s a little sexy sumthin’ sumthin‘ from my newest release FIRST IMPRESSIONS. Quentin has been dying to get his hands on Moira all day. The cramped confines of his truck don’t prevent him from giving in to his desire.

Featured Image -- 1345

Before starting the car, Quentin turned to her, took her in his arms, and gave her a quick, hard kiss that set them both back on their heels.

“I’ve been wanting to do that for hours,” he told her, smiling against her lips. He touched them again, this time softer, but no less potently. His hands slid around her neck, pulling her across the cab. Roomy as it was, Moira hit the steering wheel.

“Ouch.” She pulled back, laughing. “I think we’re a little too old and you’re a little too big to be making out in the front seat of a truck, Q.”

Grinning, he kissed her once more and said, “I’ll argue the first point, but not the second.” He turned the key and started the engine. “I’ll try to keep my hands to myself until we get home.”

Moira nestled next to him in the spacious cab, took his right arm and crossed it over her shoulders so she could snuggle closer to him. “Here. How’s this?”

He planted a swift kiss on her temple, his eyes never leaving the road, and said, “As good as it gets.”

My Sexy Saturday Blog Hop # 111

Welcome to the 111th week of My Sexy Saturday.

This week’s theme: Sexy Today

mysexySat

A little over two years ago, we had an idea…an idea that sexy meant different things to different people…we knew this was true because of the books we read and wrote. We wanted to share sexy with everyone. We wanted authors from sweet to sensual to smoking hot to share with us their idea of sexy.

And come they did. In droves, some weeks better than others but everyone sharing their dream of what sexy meant. Last week it was a sexy boy, the week before that the sexy girlfriend. Each week we’ve had a different theme and have had authors post using that theme as a base board to start with. We even encourage them to post when their story doesn’t fit that theme because sharing is sexy and we all want to read just the good stuff every once in a while.

So today, there really is no theme except sexy today. Authors are free to post whatever they want within the normal rules. Just make it sexy, sexy and more sexy.

For the readers, please visit us at our new Author Central where we’ll be sharing even more from our authors. It’s also the place to hear all about our 100th week Anniversary Bash next Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Get all the details for all the prizes we’ll be giving away. We’d love to have each and everyone of you there.

Remember that the sexy boy will turn the man of our dreams. That our high school crush is really the one we want. That the captain of the spaceship is the hottest thing we’ve ever seen. And the everyday joe is the one we want to take home to mom and dad.

Click on the link below to hop over to some other Sexy Blogs.

My idea of a sexy guy is someone a little misunderstood, a little alpha with beta mixed in, and completely confident in his own skin, so here’s my newest example of a sexy male – Padric Cleary from my current release FIRST IMPRESSIONS

FirstImpressions_w9816_2_85

He put a hand to her lower back while they were guided to their table, and Clarissa’s nerve endings all stood at attention. When he lowered his voice and said into her ear, “I’ll worm it out of you,” those same nerves firecrackered through her system. His voice sent a punch of sexual heat, quick burning and erotic through her insides, and—God help her—she knew she’d tell him anything he wanted if he used it on her again.

The late lunch/early dinner crowd was heavy in the North End from patrons having a bite to eat before heading to Fenway Park or to the theater district for a show.

As she had on the street, Clarissa noted several female heads turning to the men at her table more than once. When Pat smiled at their waitress as he ordered a drink, the woman noticeably stood straighter, jutting her breasts out while she wrote in her pad.

When Quentin turned his attention to Moira, Clarissa took the opportunity to whisper to Pat. “You really can’t help it, can you?”

To the question in his gorgeous eyes, she added, “The whole natural, sexy, flirting thing you do without even thinking about it.”

The grin started at one corner of his mouth and spread across to the other side, mesmerizing her. All Clarissa had to do was move a fraction of an inch and she would have been in Pat’s lap, her lips molded to his. When her gaze dropped to his mouth, his perfect teeth peeking out from behind his irresistible grin, she actually considered giving into the thought.

“You think I’m sexy?” His voice slipped into a seductive timbre that made her lady-parts quiver.

FirstImpressions_w9816_2_85

The handsome, charming veterinarian is considered a serial dater and commitment-phobic by his family and most of the town. Relationship shy, Clarissa refuses to lose her heart to a man who can’t pledge himself to her forever.

Pat Cleary, despite his reputation, is actually looking for “The One.” When he does give his heart away, he wants it to be for life. With his parent’s marriage as his guidebook, he wants a woman who will be his equal and soul mate in every way.

Can Pat convince everyone – including Clarissa – she’s the only woman for him?

One Sexy Boy

This week’s theme for My Sexy Saturday is: One Sexy Boy

mysexySat

We all know it just takes one sexy boy to get us going. That boy will turn into the man of our dreams. They can start out on the wrong side of the tracks, the right side of the tracks, the rich side or even the poor side. They can be good or they can be bad, we will love them all the same. They can space ship captains or one who is hired to protect us with their lives. They can be farmers and casino owners and the list goes on and on. But all of them started out as one sexy boy. They give us hidden looks, a longing gaze, with love’s promise shining in their eyes and all the things that come with love.  We love sexy and it’s always so fun to share.

Readers want to see those characters, the ones who can’t get enough of each other as well as ones who are fighting their way back to being part of the world once again. These are the types of characters they can’t forget, the one they want to take home and keep forever. Readers love the kisses, the looks or touch of each and every one of our characters.

Sexy has nothing to do with looks or status or even wealth. It doesn’t demand perfection and it isn’t pretentious but it does make us want to read those books.

We know that everyone has their own idea of sexy and we all love sexy!

Here’s a snippet from my new release FIRST IMPRESSIONS.

FirstImpressions_w9816_2_85

When she heard Pat’s low, calm voice, she realized where the kitten was. She donned the shirt he’d pulled off the night before in his haste to get as naked as she and padded out to the kitchen.

He stood at the stove, shirtless, low-slung sweatpants covering a butt her fingertips itched to squeeze. The muscles in his back rippled while one hand turned the bacon in a frying pan with a fork, the other held the kitten close, her little body perched up on one of his massive, naked shoulders. The sight of this big, brawny, hard as steel-bodied man holding the tiny kitten so lovingly, stopped her heart.

“Your mommy should be waking up soon,” Pat told the kitten, rubbing his chin along its back. He pushed the frying pan to a back, unlit burner. “Let’s get you fed.” He turned and spotted her.

“Hey.” His wide smile disappeared almost instantly. Placing the kitten down on the floor, he moved to her lightning quick. “Clarissa, what’s wrong?” He pulled her into his arms.

“Nothing’s wrong.” With a sniff, she wrapped her arms around his waist.

“Then why are you crying?” His hands smoothed up and down her back, the natural heat from his body warming her inside and out.

She pushed away and swiped at the tears. The eyes peering back at her were filled with worry. She touched his cheeks, the feel of the scratchy stubble across them igniting something deep and sensual inside her, and said, “Because I’ve never woken up happier in my life as I did two minutes ago.”

His brow cleared and his grip tightened.

Here’s a sexy scene from my upcoming 9/23/15 release FIRST IMPRESSIONS

FirstImpressions_w9816_2_85

Her fingernails raked over the muscles of his torso, and with feather-light movements, twirled and dipped around his nipples, now as taut as hers.

He pulsed against her lap, hot and solid, and every time her tongue sucked at his, he grew even harder.

“I want to be inside you,” he whispered into her ear, taking the lobe between his teeth and biting, “pounding into you until we’re both senseless. But I want to go slow, too. I want to learn every beautiful inch of you, everything that gives you pleasure.” He pulled back and gazed into half closed lids, drunk and hooded with desire. “And then I want to make you come as many times as I can. Over and over.”

He watched her open those cocoa-colored eyes wide, so dark now he couldn’t see where the pupils ended and the color began, and swallowed. Hard.

Her cheeks flushed with a rosy pink hue, offsetting the paleness of her perfect skin. Skin he wanted to run his hands, his teeth, and his tongue across. And then do it again.
“No one’s ever said that to you before, have they?”

She shook her head, the movement causing her unsecured breasts to sway enticingly against his hands.

“I intend to say it to you as often as I can.” He took her face between his hands and gently rubbed her cheeks with his thumbs. “Clarissa. I want you so much. So much.”
