#CoverReveal for new #WildRosePress Series, One Scoop of Two: Vanilla with a Twist

I’ve been lucky enough to have been included in 3 previous WILD ROSE PRESS series: The Candy Hearts, The Deerbourne Inn, and the Australia Burns Anthologies.

Today, I’m giving you a sneak peek at the fourth: ONE SCOOP OR TWO, and my addition to the series ,VANILLA WITH  A TWIST.

That’s my heroine, ice cream parlor owner TANDY BLAKEMORE, on the cover, and in her shop!

I loved writing the story sososo much! It’s a small town, sweet romance and 35000+ words, but the emotion that’s packed into it is powerful. At its heart this is a story about two lonely people who find one another when neither was looking!

Here’s the blurb:

Tandy Blakemore spends her days running her New England ice cream parlor, single-parenting her teenage son, and trying to keep her head above financial water. No easy feat when the shop’s machinery is aging and her son is thinking about college. Tandy hasn’t had a day off in a decade and wonders if she’ll ever be able to live a worry-free life.

Engineer Deacon Withers is on an enforced vacation in the tiny seaside town of Beacher’s Cove. Overworked, stressed, and lonely, he walks into Tandy’s shop for a midday ice cream cone and gets embroiled in helping her fix a broken piece of equipment.

Can the budding friendship that follows lead to something everlasting?

I don’t have a release date yet or buy links, but it promises to be available in Summer 2020 ( which I’m hoping means June!) so  you know when it gets closer I’ll be putting up lots of promo.

Here’s a very quick passage to hopefully whet your reading appetite:

For a few moments, she regarded him with a look his mother would have called insightful. The corners of her eyes narrowed, she dipped her chin a hair, and pulled her mouth into another appealing pout he was tempted to kiss.

“I bet,” she said after a long, drawn-out sigh, “you were the kind of kid who took apart clocks and fans and vacuum cleaners to see how they worked.”

“It was more washing machines and lawn mowers and anything with a motor, but yeah. I was.”

She shook her head, her own lips forming a lopsided grin. “Your poor mother.”

“She survived.”

Tandy rolled her eyes and shot her hands to her hips. “So it’s working again?” She thrust her chin at the ice cream machine.

“For now.”

“Okay, well, I can live with for now. And you think you know the real reason it’s been acting up?”

“I definitely do. But like I said, the water to the machine needs to be shut off to fix it.”

“Okay. Well, we close at nine.”

“I’ll come back a little before then. Get things ready. Is that okay with you?”

“I guess it’ll have to be.” She bit down on the inside of her cheek as her brows pulled together. “And you’re sure you want to do this?”

“If I weren’t, I wouldn’t offer, Tandy.”

Why her reluctance to have him help was such a turn-on was something he considered while he waited for his ice cream.

More to come, peeps, when I can….

Until next time ~ Peg

#SundaySnippet First one of 2020~ 1.5.20 ; A PRIDE OF BROTHERS:RICK

It’s a little hard for me to believe 2020 is here already. It seems like just yesterday it was 1.1.19.

Oh well….

I have a brand new ROMANTIC SUSPENSE series starting this year titled A PRIDE OF BROTHERS and the very first book, RICK is dropping on 1.13.20 so it seems apropos I post my very first Sunday Snippet of 2020 with a little scene from the book.

Blurb:

Elite bodyguard and P.I. Rick Bannerman’s job is to protect. He doesn’t get emotional with his clients, but when a woman from his past is threatened, his next job becomes personal.

Family lawyer Abigail Laine is the target of a client’s vengeful husband, but refuses Rick’s offer of protection. He walked away from her four years ago, and she swore to forget him.

Now her reluctance to accept his help could cost Abby her life.

As she reached out to clutch the table for support, a pair of firm hands seized her upper arms from behind.

“Easy there, Abigail.”

Abby’s entire body stilled. In a heartbeat, she went from tipsy to stone-cold sober as the smooth, deep timbre of that voice washed over her.

“Reception hasn’t started yet. Wouldn’t do for one of Kandy’s minions to go down before the band even warms up.”

When her arms were freed a moment later, Abby whirled around to find a pair of chocolate-drop-colored eyes trained on her from a face hand carved by the gods of gorgeous. Hair as dark as unprocessed coal was cut military short. Dark, thick lashes framed his almond- shaped eyes, and his mouth was pulled into a totally charming smirk that she wanted to kiss off his chiseled face.

Why did simply looking at him make her stomach act like a roller coaster spiraling downward and back to the station?

“Minions? Really, Bannerman?”

He had the nerve to grin. “Well, you are required to blindly follow and do everything Kandy tells you to without argument, aren’t you? Sounds pretty accurate to me.”

“You’re wearing a tuxedo. Does that make you one of Josh’s minions?” She raked a finger up and down his ridiculously well-cut black lapel.

A free and easy laugh kicked her square in her already shaking stomach. “Not in this lifetime.” His eyes crinkled at the corners. “He’s got two brothers who can more than fill the bill. I’m merely a humble wedding guest.”

Humble was hardly the word she’d use to describe him. At six two and a solid, muscular two hundred pounds, Rick Bannerman was cocky, sinfully sexy, and a total player. Exactly the kind of man she knew she shouldn’t be drawn to, but God help her, was.

Intrigued? You can preorder your copy here and have it as soon as it’s released on 1.13.20:

#Authorinterview with Karen Hulene Bartell

It’s always a great day when I can introduce you to another WIld Rose Press sistah! Today, it’s my pleasure for you to meet KAREN HULENE BARTELL.

Karen has a new book out from WRP and she’s here to tell us a little about it, and to tell us a lot about herself!!! I love an author interview, don’t you?

Karen…take it away!

Karen,  The Writer

Thank you so much for hosting me! ( Peggy here: Totally my pleasure!!)

  1. What drives you to write?

This is a very thought-provoking question, and I considered it long and hard. I loved reading—especially as a child—so writing may be a natural progression, but my guess is *if* it’s in you—*if* you’re born with a penchant for writing—it’s gotta’ come out.

  1. What genre(s) of Romance do your write, and why?

I write mainstream fantasy romance because I admit to a captivation with ghosts, and I write historical western romance because both history and the American frontier appealed to me early on.

  1. What genre(s) of Romance do you read, and why?

I’ve read most genres of romance, depending at what point I’m at in life. For instance, in junior high, I read Gone with the Wind and fell in love with antebellum era romances. In high school, I read Angelique, which started a fascination with 17th Century France and the court of “Le Roi Soleil,” Louis XIV.

  1. What’s your writing schedule? Do you write everyday?

I write early in the morning, while my mind is still creative, usually starting about 4:30 or 5:00. I write every day, not only because it’s a good habit, but because it keeps the storyline fresh. Many mornings I wake up with a plot idea, which leads me to believe “the genies of my mind” really do work while I sleep.

  1. Give us a glimpse of the surroundings where you write. Separate room? In the kitchen? At the dining room table?

I write in my home office, at a French Provincial desk I finished myself. The keyboard slides into a drawer, and the computer screen overhangs it. Two orange-striped cats are usually stretched out, covering half the desktop. An open travel brochure is within sight, calling to me, and the dog’s napping at my feet.

  1. Are you the kind of writer who needs total quiet to compose, or are you able to filter out the typical sounds of the day and use your tunnel-vision?

Though I can compose in the middle of mayhem, especially if I’m on a roll, I prefer a quiet place without interruption.

  1. Do you listen to music while you write, and if so, what kind? If not, why not?

Definitely, I don’t listen to music while I write. Most of the time, a melody is playing at the back of my mind, and if I hear external music, it’s jarring—like listening to two radio stations simultaneously.

  1. How did you come up with the plotline/idea for your current WIP?

My husband and I took a trip to the Keys several years ago…and voila…an idea was born along Highway 1.

  1. Which comes first for you – character or plot? And why?

Plot always comes first. Though I may think of characters before I have any plot in mind, I “save” those characters for the right plot.

  1. What 3 words describe you, the writer?

Eccentric loner, who’s extroverted 😉

Karen , The Person

  1. Tell us one unusual thing about yourself—not related to writing!

I’m an animal advocate, and I rescue mustangs.

2, Who was your first love and what age were you?

I was twelve and madly in love with the first flautist in the school orchestra.

3, If you could relive one day, which one would it be? Think GROUNDHOG DAY, the movie for this one – you’ll have to live it over and over and….

Probably the day I met my husband. Through an extenuating series of events, I met him hours after he broke off his engagement.

4. Do you like a guy in boxers, briefs, or commando?

None of the above—I prefer a guy in jeans.

5.If you had to give up one necessary-can’t-live-without-it beauty item, what would it be?

Shampoo??? I’m a down-to-early, au natural type 😉

6. What three words describe you, the person?

Adventurous traveler and student (of life)

7. If you could sing a song with Jimmy Fallon, what would it be?

I Gotta’ Be Me

8.If you could hang out with any literary character from any book penned at any time line, who would it by, why, and what would you do together?

Scarlett O’Hara

Bonus round

I love the Actor’s Studio show on Bravo, so this is my version of it:

  1. Favorite sound – twilight in the country
  2. Least favorite sound – screeching children
  3. Best song every written – O Holy Night
  4. Worst song ever written – any rap song
  5. Favorite actor and actress – Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock
  6. Who would you want to be for 1 day and why? ( It can be anyone living or dead) Genghis Khan
  7. What turns you on? Down-to-earth guy, romantic dinner, dancing, moonlit night, and cava
  8. What turns you off? Arrogant alpha males—swaggering muscles without brains
  9. Give me the worst 5 words ever heard on a first date ( here’s mine: “Is that your real hair?”) What took you so long?
  10. What’s your version of a perfect day? Signing a book contract

The Keys: Voice of the Turtle by Karen Hulene Bartell

Blurb:

Hours after arriving in the Florida Keys to help her cousin Keya create a turtle preserve, Ruth discovers a washed-up body and not one, but two apparitions—Maita, the angry victim’s spirit, and Bart, a swashbuckling ghost. Ruth’s curious ability to connect with the ghosts may help them move on, but how?

Keya is in a probate battle over her turtle-nesting beach. Land-hungry relatives want it bulldozed and developed. Like Ruth, she has a special gift—she can talk to animals. Between Ruth’s help and Keya’s unique ability, they work to save the property, but is it too late?

Can Keya save her beloved turtles? Can Ruth find Maita’s murderer or help Bart solve his 400-year-old mystery? There’s more than meets the eye to Keya’s land. Add in a dashing sailor who believes in her, and Keya may have more than she bargained for…

Excerpt:

Conveying this land to the turtles would be my way of leaving the world a better place.” She turned toward Ruth. “Does that make sense?”

Ruth nodded and gazed at Keya as if for the first time. Her cousin’s intentions were clear. “But legally, how can you will the property to the turtles?”

“Easy. I leave it to the Turtle Refuge.” Keya laughed inwardly as they meandered along the beach. “And this is where you come in. When you’re writing the brochure, add a few paragraphs about planned giving and charitable bequests…” Her words broke off as Keya stared as if in a trance.

Ruth looked at her. “What’s wrong?”

Her hand shaking, Keya pointed to a shady patch of beach half hidden by sand dunes. A lifeless hand lay tangled in seaweed, its fingernails broken and bloodied.

Racing behind the sandbanks to help, Ruth skidded to a halt, her heels digging into the sand. A woman’s bloated body lay staring at the sun, her eyes opaque and unseeing. “Do you recognize her?”

“No.” Keya shook her head as the cat gingerly approached, sniffing and meowing. But Earnestine said she smells familiar.”

“Knock, knock,” called a man’s voice.

Ruth flinched at the sound. “Who’s there?”

#Coverreveal for TODAY, TOMORROW, ALWAYS #WRPbks #comingsoon

AT last!!! Here it is, my wonderful cover for TODAY, TOMORROW, ALWAYS ( A Match Made in Heaven)

I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect depiction for this book. Thank you to DIANA CARLILE for such a gorgeous representation of Cathy and Mac’s story.

Here’s the official blurb to go along with the book:

Lawyer Cathleen O’Dowd wants to break free from her boring image. Widowed young, she’s toed the good-girl line but now wants a little fun and laughter in her days…and nights. Living in a small town, though, she can’t do anything that would tarnish her professional reputation.

Mac Frayne’s tragic past has turned him into a sullen loner. In town to write a book on the city’s founder, his plan is to get it done, then head home to his solitary existence.

When circumstances force them to work together, their opposing personalities clash, but the sexual attraction between them is palpable.

Can a simple affair with an end date be just the thing to brighten up their lives?

I have a tentative release date of December 4, and as soon as everything is settled, I’ll put up preorder links. I am sosososososo happy this book will finally be coming out. It was a hard book to write and it wrung me dry many times. I had to step away from it twice when the crying over my keyboard got a bit much!! heehee.

But don’t worry; Cathy’s story is sad in a few ways, but since this is an O’Dowd sister book, you know there are plenty of LOL moments, especially when 93 year old Nanny Fee is on the page. Trust me, she’s just as flirtatious and outrageous as ever. ( Thank goodness!)

I hope you love the cover as much as I do – and I REALLY do!

More to come when I have it.

Until next time  ~Peg

And if you haven’t read book 1 yet – Dearly Beloved, now is the perfect opportunity. DEARLY BELOVED was just voted the 2019 BOOK BUYERS BEST AWARD from OCCRWA!

It’s #October and that means….a #booksale for a #fallthemed Romance!

This is exactly what it looks like in my little piece of Heaven in NH right now!! I love the fall colors, and they seem especially bright this year.

In honor of my favorite season, I’ve got one of my MacQuire Women books on sale for #99cents right now, and it just so happens to take place in the fall!!! FIRST IMPRESSIONS tells the story of Pat and Clarissa. The scene in the apple orchard while they are gathering apples for pie is one of my favorites!

Family Practice Doctor Clarissa Rogers’ first impression of Padric Cleary is biased and based on gossip. The handsome, charming veterinarian is considered a serial dater and commitment-phobic by his family and most of the town. Relationship shy, Clarissa refuses to lose her heart to a man who can’t pledge himself to her forever.

Pat Cleary, despite his reputation, is actually looking for “The One.” When he does give his heart away, he wants it to be for life. With his parent’s marriage as his guidebook, he wants a woman who will be his equal and soul mate in every way.

Can Pat convince everyone – including Clarissa – she’s the only woman for him?

You’ll have to read the book to find out the answer!

A #NewBookRelease from #author Jana Richards

My Wild Rose sistah, Jana Richards, has a new book releasing and she was kind enough to stop by and tell me a little about it. And because I’m a share-er ( heehee) I wanted you all to know about it too…

Blurb:

After causing three cooking fires in her apartment, Iris Jensen finds herself evicted and homeless. She lands on Riley Benson’s doorstep, looking to rent a room in the beautiful old home he’s restoring. It’s only for six weeks until Iris leaves Portland, Oregon for her new job on a cruise ship. Firefighter Riley knows firsthand what a bad tenant she can be. But he needs money to finish the work on the house he loves. And something about Iris pulls at his heart…

Meanwhile, in Heaven, two angels watch over the young lovers. Angelica and Hildegard work in Heaven’s Relationship Division, where angels match mortals with their soul mates. The angels believe so strongly in Iris and Riley’s love that they break Heaven’s rules to help them. Can the angels convince them their love will last a lifetime?

Excerpt

Riley looked into her beautiful blue eyes and her smiling face and did the only thing he was capable of doing at the moment.

He kissed her.

Maybe later, he told himself, when sanity returned, he’d think of a hundred reasons why pulling Iris into his arms, holding her snug against his body, and plundering her soft, sweet mouth was not a good idea. But for now, right now, as she wound her arms around his neck and made tiny sounds of excitement deep in her throat, it felt exactly right.

Heaven. Having Iris in his corner made him believe everything was possible.

He stepped backward toward the stairs, pulling Iris with him, intent on taking her upstairs to his room. He suddenly tripped, nearly losing his balance. He glanced behind him and saw the object he’d stumbled over. A set of luggage sat next to the stairs, still bearing tags from the retailer.

“What the hell is this?”

Iris kissed his neck. “I’m sorry. I should have taken them up to my room.”

Iris had bought new luggage for her trip. Her plans hadn’t changed.

She’s leaving me.

The thought acted as effectively as a bucket of cold water tossed over his head. What was he doing? She was leaving in three weeks and didn’t plan to return. The calendar in the kitchen reminded him of that every day. Why start something that would only lead to heartache?

He’d already lost too many people in his life.

And Riley instinctively knew that if he let himself get close to Iris, let himself love her, a part of him would not survive when she left.

Author Bio:

When Jana Richards read her first romance novel, she immediately knew two things: she had to commit the stories running through her head to paper, and they had to end with a happily ever after. She also knew she’d found what she was meant to do. Since then she’s never met a romance genre she didn’t like. She writes contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and historical romance set in World War Two, in lengths ranging from short story to full length novel. Just for fun, she throws in generous helpings of humor, and the occasional dash of the paranormal. Her paranormal romantic suspense “Seeing Things” was a 2008 EPPIE finalist.

In her life away from writing, Jana is an accountant/admin assistant, a mother to two grown daughters, and a wife to her husband Warren. She enjoys golf, yoga, movies, concerts, travel and reading, not necessarily in that order. She and her husband live in Winnipeg, Canada with an elderly Pug/Terrier named cross Lou. Meet Wild Rose Press #author Jocelyn Pedersen

So, today is a first for me. I usually spotlight romance writers when I do an author interview, but today I’ve got a treat. JOCELYN PEDERSEN is a Wild Rose Press sistah, but she writes mysteries and thrillers. So cool! She agreed to let me interview her recently and I had so much fun listening to her answers. Sit back and meet this fascinating author.

Jocelyn, The Writer

1. What drives you to write?

The love of writing. I’ve always written. When I was a kid I’d write letters to my aunties, I’d write stories and poems, and I’d write absolutely everything down. I’m a geek—the feel of ink being placed on paper is a bit of a thrill—I’m even picky about the pens I use because if they don’t have a certain feel when I use them on paper, I don’t like them.

2. What genre(s) do your write, and why?

I write mysteries and thrillers because I love a good puzzle. I adore using my mind to try to figure out a mystery before the end of a book and I make a mental note of how early in the book I figure it out. The best stories are the ones I can’t figure out because they have a twisty ending. In addition, I like the forensic element in solving the crime. I took a class called Forensics for Writers and found it to be very interesting. I think I would have made a good detective!

3. What genre(s) do you read, and why?

I like crime novels, mostly. I enjoy the police work, the sleuthing, and the forensics—again, because I like a good challenge with a great puzzle. I don’t mind some descriptive scenes that get a little gory, but I don’t like too much because readers want more and more of that and I don’t want to go that far into the dark cave.

4. What’s your writing schedule? Do you write everyday?

I absolutely write every day of my life. I prefer to write in the morning before I get busy with my day. If I don’t write something, I feel like something is missing. I’m a journalist, too, so I track down stories and write freelance for several local and regional publications. I teach writing at the University of Oklahoma. As for novel writing, my brain never stops. I write in my head, I write snippets on my phone or on restaurant napkins, and on scraps of paper. When characters won’t leave me alone and they talk to me all the time, I know it’s time to get busy and sit at the computer. So, for me, writing is a huge part of my life and therefore I do it every single day.

5. Give us a glimpse of the surroundings where you write. Separate room? In the kitchen? At the dining room table?

I have an old, wooden office desk in my den that I picked up at a used furniture store. On it I have two large monitors sitting side by side. Regardless of what I’m writing, I like to have notes on one screen, the project I’m working on another screen, and an Internet browser open on another part of a screen. If I run out of room, I launch the screen on my computer and have something open on that screen too. I think I like to see things laid out next to each other in this way because I grew up with books, not windows on screens. I can glance from here to there and have everything I need at my fingertips. I invested in a good chair, too, because I sit and write so much. Good ergonomic posture is imperative when writing as much as I do. I also have a split, ergonomic keyboard. I love it. In fact, I’ve used it so much, the letters are worn off the keys! The bonus side of that is that most folks can’t use a keyboard without letters, so visitors don’t want to use my computer to check their email. It’s kind of funny.

6. Are you the kind of writer who needs total quiet to compose, or are you able to filter out the typical sounds of the day and use your tunnel-vision?

Total quiet. When I write, I am not “here,” I’m in the story.

7. Do you listen to music while you write, and if so, what kind? If not, why not?

I’m in awe of folks who can listen to music while writing. If I listen to music, I find myself typing the lyrics rather than my story. Sometimes, when the weather is nice, I’ll take my laptop outside and sit on my back patio to write. I love the ambient sounds of my backyard fountain and the birds chirping.

8. How did you come up with the plotline/idea for your current WIP?

Since my current WIP is Book 2 of the Izzy O Crime Files, I’m using some of the same characters. I’m adding new characters, of course, and since I love animals, I’m adding police dogs. I am a graduate of the Norman Citizens Police Academy, where I learned quite a bit about police procedure and police dogs. I have been a professional dog trainer, so adding dogs will be fun. In addition, I took up Olympic-style weightlifting in the fall of 2018 to help me cut time off of my swim (I regularly swim 1/2 to a full mile). So, I’ve decided that in addition to adding dogs to my WIP, I’m going to have one of my characters take up weightlifting.

9. Which comes first for you – character or plot? And why?

I think plot comes first. Once I have an idea for a plot, the characters emerge and start filling in the story. I start with “what if?” and go on from there. Many of my characters are named for people I know and those who know me well know that some scenes have really happened in my life.

10. What 3 words describe you, the writer?

Driven. Creative. Perseverant.

Jocelyn, The Gal…

  1. Tell us one unusual thing about yourself – not related to writing!

As I mentioned, I took up Olympic-style weightlifting less than a year ago. When I had been lifting for only a month, my lifting coach, the incredible Bob White, Jr. (who is the big brother I never had and always wanted), told me the team would be going to a weightlifting meet—when I picked my jaw up off the floor, I agreed. At that meet, I won gold in my division and the Best Master Woman lifter award. Since then, I’ve won three more gold medals, I’ve earned my coaching license, and I’m headed to the national meet in November. I’m very proud of going from never having seen a barbell to making nationals in seven months. Who knew I was any good at this!? Certainly not me.

2. Who was your first love and what age were you?

I was 12 years old—we had moved from my native Canada to Singapore—where I met Niccolai Murphy. I was smitten. We played bridge at lunchtime with friends and he taught me to make and fly model airplanes. We had a blast running around together flying airplanes and eating all manner of weird delicacies from street vendors—never asking what was in it. I still keep in touch with him and his lovely wife, Pat Hlavin. When my son, Al, became interested in flying at age 12, I took him to California to meet Nicco who, along with his friend, Frank Britton, took Al up and taught him to do loop-de-loops, and barrel rolls. They even had a mock dogfight. Al recently got his private pilot’s license. You don’t have many friends like Nicco in a lifetime.

3. If you could relive one day, which one would it be? Think GROUNDHOG DAY, the movie for this one – you’ll have to live it over and over and….

August 23, 2017. Adams Hall, Rm 311 at 10:30 a.m. A student in my class, Michael Jackson, walked into the room. Of course, since it was the first week of class, I knew absolutely no one, but when he walked in I said to myself, “That’s Michael Jackson.” It was like I knew him from somewhere, but we’d never met. That man was, in fact, Michael Jackson, and after the semester was over we, like many of my students, had a cup of coffee. We are now best friends and are planning to go into business together. Age is a number. Who cares how old friends are?

4.If you had to give up one necessary-can’t-live-without-it beauty item, what would it be?

Concealer. Acne has not been my friend…

5.What three words describe you, the person?

Loyal. Giving. Loving.

6. If you could sing a song with Jimmy Fallon, what would it be?

Imagine Dragons’ Machine. It isn’t terribly funny, but it speaks to my fierce independence.

6. If you could hang out with any literary character from any book penned at any time line, who would it be, why, and what would you do together?

Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, because he stood up for the underdog. He stood up for what he believed in and knew was right. He showed love, compassion and empathy. If we could spend time together, I’d want to have a tall glass of tea on his front porch and ask him what makes him tick and discuss the courage it took to stand up for himself and Tom Robinson.

Bonus round

I love the Actor’s Studio show on Bravo, so this is my version of it:

  1. Favorite sound                      Waves crashing on the strand.
  2. Least favorite sound             High-pitched squealing.
  1. Best song ever written So many! I’m a singer, so this is hard… If I had to    narrow it down, The Rose would be at the top.
  2. Worst song ever written      This is the Song That Never Ends
  3. Favorite actor and actress    Morgan Freeman and Susan Sarandon
  4. Who would you want to be for 1 day and why? ( It can be anyone living or dead)                        Mother Teresa because she showed incredible compassion, empathy, and love toward others.
  5. What turns you on?              Caring.
  6. What turns you off?              Meanness.
  7. Give me the worst 5 words ever heard on a first date ( here’s mine: “Is that your real hair?”)   Are your boobs real?
  8. What’s your version of a perfect day?  Going to a beach and doing something active!

And now, here’s a peak at An EYE FOR AN EYE

Rookie detective Izzy O’Donnell is on the trail of a serial killer who’s murdering victims and leaving behind body parts wrapped in Bible verses. Izzy tracks him down with the help of her two partners—a very enigmatic Moreno and a rather grumpy Cal—her injured dad’s former partner.

Meanwhile, her wacky sidekick, Apple MacIntosh, totes a pet rabbit around in a baby sling, insisting he’s telepathic and can smell death on Izzy’s clothes. Unnerved by unexplained dreams, Izzy forges forth to solve the case. A homeless man, a philandering televangelist, and a mentally challenged gardener are among the suspects who distract Izzy from seeing the killer, who has been getting to know her all along.

Excerpt:

Moreno hung up the phone and walked past Izzy, purposely brushing her elbow with his. Startled, she jumped and looked at him.

“You hangin’ in?” he said.

“Guess I’m a little shell shocked.”

They crossed the room and met Cal at the fireplace.   He was bent over, examining the body.

“Cal, Moreno, you’d better take a look at this,” said one of the techies. He motioned them over to the blood-soaked couch.

Izzy hadn’t been called over, so she stayed at the fireplace. The scene was gruesome, and the stench wafted up her nose. She gingerly touched the body with a stainless-steel probe. It crunched. She steadied her queasies and took a deep breath. Get back on task.

She scrutinized the area, searching for fibers and trace evidence. When she picked up the fireplace poker that lay nearby, a blood-soaked packet tumbled off the hearth and plopped on the carpet. Izzy glanced around to see if anyone else had noticed. When she realized she was the sole recipient of this piece of evidence, heart skipped a beat. This could be her first break – her way to show those seasoned guys that this newbie knew her stuff.
