So long, 2020….I will not miss you at all

When I got up this morning I had no intention of writing a last day of the year blog.

But this is 2020, and…shit happened. Bad shit…horrible shit…political fiascos and unnecessary death tolls. National unrest…a preventable pandemic…lost jobs…lost lives…lost national respect.

Every month of this year something new and horrible occurred from hurricanes, to mounting Covid death tolls, social unrest. If you had a Bingo 2020 card did you have a box for Murder hornets? Locust swarms? Australian fire decimation? Toilet paper hoarding? The Tiger king debate ( Did Carole Baskin kill her hubby??)

Have you ever washed your hands so much as you did in 2020?

Did you ever think a 70+ physcian/scientist would be the calm in your frightened emotional storm? Anthony Fauci is a rock star in my opinion!

Have you ever felt like hitting people so much who refuse to wear a mask?

Did you ever think about what your friends and family really mean to you  as you did this year because you couldn’t see them?

And have you ever before been thankful for a vaccination shot??

As this year ends – and thank you Jesus it is – I’m looking at tomorrow as not only a new day and new year, but as a new start and a fresh beginning for my life. I’m going into 2021 cautiously optimistic and with a smile because 2020 is gone, dead, and I’m sososo over it!

A new addition to our family…meet Maple Leaf

If you follow this blog you know that there have been some serious highs and lows in my life and that of my family’s lately. A wedding, a death, not to mention the continued pandemic running our lives and lifestyles.

Well, since we are already stressed out, my husband and I figured, why not add to that stress.

No, seriously, we didn’t say that!!!! Hahah. But the end result could be construed as stress producing.

Let me ‘esplain.

Last Thursday we adopted an-almost 8 week old puppy and brought her into our home and hearts.

Yeah, I know….puppy = stress, squared! heehee

It’s been a longlonglonglong time since we had a dog, much less a puppy in the house. We got our first dog-baby, a black Lab named Ella, in 1987. She passed in 1999. So 21 years since a dog roamed our house and 33 since we had a pup.

But….

Meet Maple Leaf Jaeger

12 pounds of pure puppy love, joy, and rambunctious energy!

She’s a chocolate Lab and loves to run around in the yard, carry sticks in her mouth, and play with empty plastic bottles.

Oh, and chew. Everything!!!!

She already has our hearts in her paws.

Our daughter named her Maple because she is a New Hampshire dog, born and bred and we wanted to keep her name native to the region. I added the middle name of Leaf, which I have to admit, my family thinks is dumb!!! But since I rule the roost, it’s staying.

With this new media-obsessed world we inhabit, Maple even has her own Instagram page. You can follow her daily antics here

I know: I’m a little obsessed! Heehee.

But look at this face:

and tell me you wouldn’t be as well!!!

Heehee.

Until next time, peeps. Follow Maple Leaf on instagram and me, here: Follow me

A look ahead….

Seems appropriate that I title this one a look ahead when the last blog was about looking back.

I’m nothing if not consistent, peeps. Hee hee

I’ve got some career goals for 2020 that I want to accomplish, in addition to some personal ones that need doing, as well.

1.Write a minimum of 1000 words before I start my actual day – what this means is that while I’m still in jammies, I write. Once 1000 words is achieved I get to get dressed, and do the adulting things I need to – like gym, laundry, etc. When they are done, I can write more.

  1. Finish 3-4 complete manuscripts in 2020; self-pub one of them. A lofty goal.
  2. Gym 6-7 times per week. No excuses. I’ve got a wedding I need to be camera ready for in May 2020.
  3. Eat better, and by better I mean, cut out the crap!! All of it.
  4. Double my book sales this year through organic exposure. More about this in 2020 blogs!

These seem more doable than last year’s goals, only 2 of which ( out of 7 ) I managed to keep. That’s a horrible track record and i hope this year is sosos much better for me.

Some of the amazing things coming for me in 2020 include:

  1. My daughter’s wedding in May
  2. My 60th birthday (also in May!)
  3. I have just signed on to write another monthly blog for a blogging group called ROMANCING THE GENRES. That makes 2 blogs, in addition to my own, that I can get exposure to the masses. Not too shabby, eh?? Heehee
  4. My 33rd wedding anniversary.

I’m sure more wonderful stuff will come down the pike for me, especially if I stay positive, focused, and keep my eyes forward and not dwell on the negatives.

I think that’s a good start, don’t you. We’ll see how far they get, which ones drop off by the wayside, and which ones become habits-for-life.

The happiest of New Years, peeps. ~Peg
