July Book of the Month winner at LoveRomanceReads!

I’m so excited and honored that VANILLA WITH A TWIST won the July Book of the Month contest over at LoveRomanceReads.

I’m not gonna lie – I campaigned hard to win because I knew that the win came with a chance to do a Facebook Messenger chat and I wanted to be able to promote the entire One Scoop or Two Series of books from Wild Rose Press.

The live FBMessenger chat will take place next Thursday, July 23, at 8:30 pm EST.  This is the link and you need to join the Love Romance Reads Romp to participate, so click on, ask to join, and you’re set: LRR

If you want to read the book before the chat, I’ve included the buy links below. It’s a novella, so you should be able to get it read in just a few lazy afternoon hours.

Hope to see as many people as we can fit in the room next Thursday. Happy reading!

Tandy Blakemore spends her days running her New England ice cream parlor, single-parenting her teenage son, and trying to keep her head above financial water. No easy feat when the shop’s machinery is aging and her son is thinking about college. Tandy hasn’t had a day off in a decade and wonders if she’ll ever be able to live a worry-free life.

Engineer Deacon Withers is on an enforced vacation in the tiny seaside town of Beacher’s Cove. Overworked, stressed, and lonely, he walks into Tandy’s shop for a midday ice cream cone and gets embroiled in helping her fix a broken piece of equipment.

Can the budding friendship that follows lead to something everlasting?

Another wonderful One Scoop or Two addition: GELATO SURPRISE by Sadira Stone

Oh do I have a treat for you today!! My uber talented Wild Rose Press sistah, Sadira Stone, has a new novella dropping today!!. It’s part of the One Scoop or Two series the WRP has exploding all over the book reading world this summer. Gelato Surprise, Sadira’s entry, is a steamy contemporary romance novella set in a Washington State beach town. Forty-two-year-old divorcée Danielle Peters is determined to keep her kids’ lives as normal as possible. But her ex spoils their annual beach vacation by whisking the kids away for a surprise Disney trip, leaving her stuck with a two-week rental. Her friends convince her to take the trip solo, time to think about her next chapter. Skeptical and glum, Danielle heads for the beach alone—until she meets Matteo, a gorgeous young Italian gelato vendor. She agrees to be his date to thwart the matchmaking nonna mafia, but their first kiss flares into something much hotter than make-believe.

She came to the beach to find herself—and found him.

Forty-two-year-old divorcée Danielle Peters ends up alone on her family’s annual beach vacation. Maybe time to herself is exactly what she needs. That and gelato from her favorite ice cream shop. But when the owner’s intoxicating young nephew offers more than sweet treats, she’s tempted to indulge in a hot summer fling before returning home.

Thirty-one-year-old Matteo Verducci craved a fresh start to mend his broken heart, and he’s found almost perfection in Ocean View, where he scoops gelato by day and crafts furniture by night. But when a sexy older woman stops to sample his wares—Mamma mia! He only has two weeks to convince her their passion is more than a delicious surprise.

Excerpt

Ciao, bella.” The unfamiliar voice snapped her reverie.

“Oh, uh.” She stammered at the gorgeous young man smiling behind the counter. Dark, curly hair, wide, lush-lipped mouth, cleft chin covered with dusky scruff, and espresso-brown eyes that twinkled with flirtatious mischief. Broad shoulders filled out his tight black T-shirt beautifully.

Like a scene from a Fellini movie, everything around her slowed and blurred as his gaze slid down her body before returning to her eyes. His glossy eyebrows flicked up, a flirtatious salute. “Welcome to Paradiso, signora. Tell me, how can I serve you today?” With his ice cream scoop, he waved toward the Italian ices. “Something tart to soothe the heat? Limone or mandarino? Or perhaps something richer.” He leaned onto the glass case and rested his perfect cleft chin on his fist. “Cioccolato fondente? Zabaglione? Tiramisu?” Rolling off his tongue, the words sounded far more like seductive foreplay than dessert options.

She swallowed hard, took a step back, and tugged her collar away from her suddenly sweaty chest. “Uh—so many choices. I can’t decide.”

His teasing smile widened, slow and sure. “Then place yourself in my hands. Just tell me how many scoops and let me surprise you.”

She was helpless to resist. “Okay. You choose. Two scoops, please.” She cleared her throat and found a bit of courage. “I place myself in your expert hands.”

Was that a blush darkening his sculpted cheekbones?

A little about AUTHOR Sadira Stone:

Author Bio:

Ever since her first kiss, Sadira’s been spinning steamy tales in her head. After leaving her teaching career in Germany, she finally tried her hand at writing one. Now she’s a happy citizen of Romancelandia, penning contemporary romance from her new home in Washington State, U.S.A. When not writing, which is seldom, she explores the Pacific Northwest with her charming husband, enjoys the local music scene, plays darts (pretty well), plays guitar (badly), and gobbles all the books. A few final questions for Sadira…

Tell us about what you write (short stories, novellas, novels, non-fiction)?

I write steamy contemporary romance set in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. My Book Nirvana series, published by The Wild Rose Press, centers around a quirky bookshop in Eugene, Oregon. All three books are full-length novels and can be read as standalones. Gelato Surprise is my first novella. Honestly, I thought keeping a love story that short would be nearly impossible, but it wasn’t that difficult.

Under my own name, I write cozy mysteries and creepy short stories—think The Twilight Zone—but so far only one creepy short has been published. I’ll get to the rest of them eventually, but right now I’m having too much fun writing romance!

What was your inspiration for Gelato Surprise?

My publisher, The Wild Rose Press, put out a call for beachy summer reads involving ice cream. I immediately remembered a scene from Würzburg, Germany, where I lived for seventeen years. There’s a lovely formal garden behind the Baroque palace, and in summer an old Italian gent sold gelato there. He’d always greet my daughter and me with a hearty “Ciao, bella!” He became the model for Salvatore Verducci, owner of a gelato shop in my fictional Washington State beach town, Ocean View. (I grew up on Verducci Drive.) Sal’s gorgeous Italian-American nephew Matteo is the love interest in Gelato Surprise.

For the setting, I had fun combining various Northwest beach towns—Ocean Shores, Long Beach, and Seaview WA, Cannon Beach, OR, and more. There’s something so endearing about a kitschy beach town with its go-kart tracks, mini-golf, arcades, fudge and saltwater taffy shops, cheesy souvenir shops—all that noise and flash contrasting with the broad, windswept beach. I even incorporated one of my husband’s favorite spots, Beard’s Hollow, near Seaview. In the book it appears is Ivan’s Hollow.

Any new projects on the horizon?

I’m working on my first indie project, a Christmas romance set in a neighborhood tavern in Tacoma, Washington, where I live—the town, not the tavern! This series will be my usual realistic, steamy contemporary romance, and each story will feature a holiday celebration in Bangers Tavern: St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, 4th of July, Halloween, etc.

Peggy here: wow! That’s something to look forward to! Thanks so much for visiting today, Sadira. Now, let’s all go get some ice cream….or gelato!!!

Until next time, peeps ~ peg

A New #DeerbourneInn novella from Marie Tuhart, releasing today!

My Wild Rose Press sistah, MARIE TUHART, is the latest author to have a novella added to the wonderful DEERBOURNE INN series. She’s giving us a little peek into her fun and spicy addition RISKY PROPOSAL  which releases today!! You can tell just from the fabulous cover that this is a book you won’t want to miss!

Marie…..

“I wanted to use a character from my Lobster Cove book Red Club Temptation. Josh was the lucky winner.

It was fun exploring Josh’s story and Claire’s along with it. These two had sparks I didn’t expect and I’m so happy I’ve been able to tell their story.”

RISKY PROPOSAL ( Deerbourne Inn)

Blurb:

IT specialist Claire Holmes begins her stay at Deerbourne Inn to rejuvenate after her sister’s tragic death. In a week, she’ll start her dream job and embark on a whole new journey. But a leaky pipe leads to an unexpected reunion with the sexy plumber she had a blind date with a year ago. His dominant air calls to her slumbering submissive side. Vowing to be bold, she invites him to lunch…in hopes of maybe a little more.

Dominant Josh Hawkins has it all—a successful hardware store and the beginnings of a new BDSM club. He doesn’t realize he’s missing someone to share it with until Claire bursts into his world and shows him that her submissive tendencies are just what he needs in his life, even if for only a week. His risky proposal to explore the spark between them could ignite an inferno that neither can quench…

Excerpt:

The door opened, and Josh almost took a step back. He blinked. The woman standing there made his libido stand up and take notice. Her brown hair spread over her shoulders, and her blue eyes were slumberous, her T-shirt rumpled.

“Hi.” She blinked a couple of times.

“This is Josh; he’s going to take a look at the sink,” Liz said.

“Oh good.” She stared at him. “I know you from somewhere.” Her voice was husky. She had the look of a woman who’d been woken up. There was something familiar about her as well.

“If you’ll excuse me, I have to go check on my kids,” Liz said. “Josh, you okay?”

“Yep, got it. Go take care of your rug rats. I know where the shut-off valve is.” Josh stepped into the bathroom. He fiddled with the faucet, then stepped out.

Ms. I-know-you-from-somewhere stood by the dresser. Damn, she was a fine woman. Those jeans molded to her hips, and her T-shirt cupped her breasts. A woman who had meat on her body. His hands itched to touch her. Hold it, buddy. You’re here to work.

He cleared his throat. “I need to run and get supplies to fix it. It will take me about twenty minutes.”

“Okay. I’m not going anywhere.” She grinned at him, her blue eyes sparkling.

He couldn’t recall a time when a single glance from a sexy woman had sent hot flares of lust straight to his pants. She claimed he looked familiar, maybe after he fixed the sink, he’d check her out.

Jana Richards presents To Heal a Heart (The Masonville Series, book 2) #releaseday

Today, my Wild Rose Press sistah, Jana Richards, has a new book releasing, TO HEAL A HEART ( The Masonville Series, book 2) and she dropped by recently to give me a little glimpse at the story. I think you’re gonna love it!

Two souls in pain, two hearts in need of rescue.

Blurb:

Garrett Saunders’ world changed two years ago on a road in Afghanistan. Back home, he feels like a stranger. As he struggles to find his place in the world, he meets a horse destined for the slaughterhouse and a woman bent on rescuing the strays of the world, including him.

Blair Greyson moves to Masonville to look after her ailing grandfather and give her rescue horses a home. Right away she butts heads with a surly former Marine. Despite a rocky start, they come to an agreement: Blair will board Garrett’s rescue horse and he’ll help with repairs around her farm.

Garrett finds purpose working with Blair—and falls in love with her. But she’s hiding a secret. Can she forgive herself and accept Garrett’s love, or will she let guilt and regret continue to rule her life?

Excerpt

“Do you remember the last summer I saw you, just before I joined the Marines? Your brothers were both working for the summer, so you came out to your grandparents’ farm on your own.”

Blair’s face grew hot at the memory. She pulled his shirt from his jeans and laid her palm against the warm, hard muscles of his abdomen. “You mean the summer I threw myself at you and you totally rejected me? No, I barely remember that at all.”

He chuckled as he pushed her shirt off her shoulders. “I was sorely tempted that summer. There you were, prancing around in your short shorts and bikini top, working in your grandmother’s garden while I mowed the lawns. You must have known you were driving me crazy.”

Actually, she hadn’t known. He’d done a great job of ignoring her and making her believe she was nothing but a nuisance. She looked up at him, tilting her head to one side. “If you were so tempted, why did you tell me to take a hike when I tried to seduce you?”

“You were fifteen, Blair. Three years younger than me and just a kid. If you’d known what I wanted to do with you…” His unfinished sentence shimmered between them.

He was such an honorable man. He hadn’t wanted to take advantage of a young girl with a case of raging hormones and too little sense. A girl who believed her only worth was in what her body could give to a boy.

“Perhaps you can show me now.” Blair slowly lowered the zipper of his pants. “I’m not a kid anymore.”

A little about Jana…

When Jana Richards read her first romance novel, she immediately knew two things: she had to commit the stories running through her head to paper, and they had to end with a happily ever after. She also knew she’d found what she was meant to do. Since then she’s never met a romance genre she didn’t like. She writes contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and historical romance set in World War Two, in lengths ranging from short story to full length novel. Just for fun, she throws in generous helpings of humor, and the occasional dash of the paranormal. Her paranormal romantic suspense “Seeing Things” was a 2008 EPPIE finalist.

In her life away from writing, Jana is an accountant/admin assistant, a mother to two grown daughters, and a wife to her husband Warren. She enjoys golf, yoga, movies, concerts, travel and reading, not necessarily in that order. She and her husband live in Winnipeg, Canada. She loves to hear from readers and can be reached through her website at www.janarichards.com

A visit with #author Colleen L. Donnelly and LETTERS AND LIES

Another one of my fabulous and talented Wild Rose Press sistahs is visiting today. Give a big hand to Colleen L. Donnelly.

Colleen’s got a new book out titled LETTERS AND LIES and she graciously agreed to tell us a little about it today.

Take it away, Colleen…

Sometimes we just need candy, and in this case, candy with a heart. “Letters and Lies” was written for those moments when you want to smile more than think, laugh more than worry, and clap a hand over your heart at my heroine’s antics which could just as easily have been your own. Follow near-spinster Louise Archer as she heads west to find the man who jilted her, armed with what she believed to be a foolproof plan to marry him in time to save the family business and her reputation.

“Letters and Lies”

Blurb:

Louise Archer boards a westbound train in St. Louis to find the Kansas homesteader who wooed and proposed to her by correspondence, then jilted her by telegram – Don’t come, I can’t marry you. Giving a false name to hide her humiliation, her lie backfires when a marshal interferes and offers her his seat.

Marshal Everett McCloud intends to verify the woman coming to marry his homesteading friend is suitable. At the St. Louis train station, his plan detours when he offers his seat to a captivating woman whose name thankfully isn’t Louise Archer.

Everett’s plans thwart hers, until he begins to resemble the man she came west to find, and she the woman meant to marry his friend.

Excerpt:

“He wrote and changed your plans? Why didn’t you tell me? You know I love hearing his letters.”

Everyone loved hearing his letters. Or at least they’d pretended to. I glanced at my friends, especially the one who’d first suggested I correspond with her husband’s homesteading friend in Kansas who was ready to look for a wife. She dabbed at her eyes with a handkerchief while she flicked the fingers of her other hand in a weak wave. I dredged my soul in search of a smile. The man she’d introduced me to truly had penned everything I’d ever wanted in a husband, months of letters which convinced Mama Jim was my open door. Letters I’d foolishly carted from family to friend to blather every word like a desperate spinster. Drat.

“He didn’t send his change of plans in a letter, Mama. He sent them in a telegram.” Don’t come, I can’t marry you. The only words I never shared.

“Well I imagine your Jim has a surprise for you and didn’t have time to send a letter before you left for Crooked Creek. How thoughtful to wire you instead.”

Thoughtful…I felt poisoned and Mama would too if she ever found out Jim had shut my open door. Which she wouldn’t, since as soon as I got out there and found him, I’d wedge it back open again.

#coverreveal for #author Marilyn Barr + #authorinterview

A new town, a fresh start, and magical secrets that could destroy them.

Blue eyes, dimples, and silky brown hair; Grant Luther has all of Alison’s weaknesses.

When he asks for one last chance to save their marriage, she agrees to relocate their family to isolated Strawberry, Kentucky in pursuit of his career dreams. Grant views Alison’s sensory issues as limitations and protects her from outside threats. When he finds his new job includes changing him into a shifter in a war against the soul-sucking Sluagh he vows to keep the changes a secret. What he doesn’t know is Alison has been hiding a magical secret of her own. One that makes her a target of the Sluagh.

Will Alison emerge from Grant’s shadow to protect her family? And can Grant learn that being different can be a strength not a weakness?

Excerpt:

“You look perfect. I mean perfectly healthy. I mean mostly uninjured,” she stammers. She places her tiny hand over her eyes.

Feeling braver than ever, I walk right up to her. I gently remove the hand from her face and hold it to my own. “See, I’m fine,” I whisper as I gently rub my thumb over her tiny knuckles.

Her eyes lift to mine and lock our gazes. I have always found the golden color of her eyes fascinating but never studied them up close. They are light brown with a golden star in the middle. I am literally star gazing as she takes in the injuries to my face. We stand there for about a minute, lost in time.

I wonder if she is thinking about when we first started dating, the hard times that followed, the present, or the future. I search her face for clues but don’t want to break the spell by opening my mouth. I decide to put said mouth to better use by lowering my head toward hers.

A little about the author, Marilyn Barr

Tell us about what you write (short stories, novellas, novels, non-fiction)? I am an over writer who uses many more words than necessary. An outlined short story will sprout into a novella, an outlined novella blooms into a novel and an outlined novel flowers into an opus. Bear with Me was a 25,000-word short story that bloomed into the 67,000-word novel when I added Alison’s point of view.

What drew you to writing? In 2002, started my writing career in a laboratory. I researched and wrote scientific articles on the probability and possible connections between recovering from influenza and contracting a strep-based otitis media (middle ear infection). With degrees in molecular biology and chemical engineering (read as big nerd), I was interested in the genetic interaction between the influenza infection and ear epithelial cells. Later in my career, I became fascinated with the genetic variations between all epithelial cells of the respiratory tract and how they interact with different sized droplets of infectious material. After earning my master’s degree in particle physics (read as uber-nerd), I published many articles on droplet deposition in the body.

My job as a scientist was very demanding and I gave up technical writing to pursue teaching. I loved teaching ninth-grade science and twelve grade physics. However, my son was deemed too sick for school in 2013 by his medical team and school authorities. While I could have a tutor teach him under the umbrella of “home instruction”, I decided to try to teach himself. Six years later, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What was your inspiration for BEAR WITH ME? On a road trip between Louisville and Lexington Kentucky, we drove through a multitude of small towns named after fruits and vegetables. When I couldn’t find Strawberry on the map, I knew it would be the name of my fictional small town which became the name of the book series. Each book in the series has a pun for a title. Bear with Me is an Ursa shifter novel. Main character Grant is an exaggerated portrayal of my spouse who uses the phrase “bear with me” often. Very often. The title is a pun of his catchphrase. Good thing he enjoys my sense of humor.

What did your route to publishing look like? I was very naïve in the query process. I wanted to query agents who represented authors with books on my shelves. I made a list of five agents and queried the first one. I had read not to query more than one agent at a time, so I waited for eight months. In the meantime, I wrote two more novels, built the #Strawberryshifters hashtag, read my books in a library book club, and had a #Strawberryshifters tee-shirt printed with my desire for an agent. I was wearing this tee-shirt when I met my favorite author, Lora Leigh.

We talked about my love of her books, my new series, and how she got started by writing for a small press. She told me to find a small press where I wished to have my books sit on their shelves and enjoy being a published author. She told me to stop chasing agents who will find me when or if I need one. With her advice in my ear, I went home to look at my bookshelves. I am a big fan of J.C. McKenzie, so I picked The Wild Rose Press. The experience has been amazing, and I love working with them. I feel like part of a team with so many professionals to show me the way.

Any new projects on the horizon?  The Strawberry shifters series currently contains sixteen novels with spin-off novellas along the way. The second book, “Round of Applause”, is a Yule-tide book so I am hoping to have it out around Christmas of 2020. For sneak peeks, including candle scents, check out my website. I have trouble keeping secrets so that is where I will leak them.

Stop by and give it a quick read.

#WInnerWinnerChickenDinner …or, I’m trying to be humble, but it’s hard!

Sometimes I can come up with a blog post title that just needs nothing else – no post at all, just the title. Today, that’s true. hee hee.

Okay, well, maybe a little explanation.

I was notified this past Thursday that two of my books had finaled in the OKRWA International Digital Awards. One book had won, the other placed fifth!

Yowza.

The winner was CHRISTMAS & CANNOLIS in the Contemporary Novel category and the 5th winner place was DEARLY BELOVED In the same category.

This is the second year in a row I’ve won this category. Last year the winner was COOKING WITH KANDY.

To say I’m humbled wouldn’t be sufficient. In all honesty, no writer writes a story alone. My editor at WRP, Eilidh Mackenzie edited both of these novels, so I consider this win hers as much as mine! And of course, I wouldn’t be winning anything if Rhonda Penders and RJ Morris hadn’t taken a chance on a 55 year old menopausal chickita who had a dream to have a romance book published traditionally.

Yeah, it’s turning out to be a good year…what there is left of it. Heehee

Until next time ~ Peg

#SundaySnippet 10.20.19

So, tomorrow I’m revealing the amazeballs cover for my upcoming Match Made in Heaven release TODAY, TOMORROW, ALWAYS. I’m uber-excited for you all to read about Cathy O’Dowd Mulvaney and Mac Frayne. They are two very different people and I had to really stretch as a writer to get them together for an HEA.

Today, here’s a little something about the first time Cathy meets Frayne.

Any remnants of a grin remaining on my face died the moment my gaze lit on McLachlan Frayne.

On the book jacket, he’d given off an air of commanding arrogance as he’d stared into the camera’s lens. In the flesh, that description flew out the window.

He was tall, so I had to lift my head to view him properly. Those wide shoulders were covered in a dark sports jacket a size or two too big for his frame. Under it, a black V-neck sweater sat over the same color T-shirt, the collar peeking through the jagged neck of the vee. Yards of leg were covered by faded jeans, white from wear in all the regular stress places. Black Converse sneakers adorned his feet and looked so soft and comfortable, I grew a little jealous.

Shaggy hair a good time past a trim framed a face that could have been a tourism board ad for Ireland. Eyes the same color as frozen Arctic ice were deer-caught-in-the-headlights wide as a twin set of commas indented the corners of his mouth. The notion he was in some kind of pain shot through me, and for the briefest of moments, I wanted to reach up and run a finger along those grooves to smooth away whatever anguish had caused them.

Intrigued? Come back tomorrow to get a gander at the perfect cover for this story!! I actually cried when I saw it the first time.

Until next time ~ Peg

A new #DeerbourneInn book from Wild Rose Press #author #LuannaStewart

I’m so excited! Another wonderful DEERBOURNE INN novella has been released. This one’s called LOVE PROOF and it’s by ubertalented and multipublished WRP sistah LUANNA STEWART.

Luanna dropped by recently to give me a little peek at what she does during her favorite season, Summer. She’s an active gal, for sure.

Luanna, take it away…

Summer at last!

Summer has finally arrived in my neck of the woods, both officially and according to the outdoor temperature. A long, cold, wet spring gave us all cabin fever. But now we can open the windows, slip on the flip flops, and soak up a bit of Vitamin D – after the proper application of sunscreen, of course.

In no particular order, here are my favourite summer activities:

Camping – every summer we camp at least once in our favourite campground, Kejimkujik National Park. From before we were married, through our boy’s childhoods and teen years, and including last summer, we’ve enjoyed hiking, paddling, and listening to the call of the loon.

Long walks in the neighbourhood. We live toward the end of a dead end country road and there is little traffic – the perfect route for walking. The only neighbours I see on a regular basis are a small herd of cows.

Sitting on our beach watching the osprey and bald eagles fish for their supper. We are blessed with our own little piece of heaven and enjoy the quiet and solitude every evening at beer o’clock, provided the weather cooperates.

Exploring other beaches – we can be at any number of lovely, sparsely inhabited beaches within an hour’s drive of our house. Long stretches of sand or pebbles are the perfect spot to hunt foe beach glass.

Hanging the wash on the clothesline. You may think I’m silly, but I love, love, love making use of sunshine and wind (free to everyone) to dry the clothes. Nothing beats the scent and feel of line-dried sheets on the bed.

Kayaking – since we have water frontage, it’s a simple matter to carry our boats to the water’s edge, climb in, and paddle away. We can circumnavigate a large island off the coast, or explore nearby coves and inlets. We enjoy watching he shearwaters dive for fish, and have even been kept company by a couple of seals.

What is your favourite summer activity? Or, if you live in the southern hemisphere, how are you spending your winter days?

Blurb:

Unemployed photojournalist Raynor Elliot stops at a bakery near the famous Deerbourne Inn. Not only does he get a lead on a job but the bakery’s owner is that awkward kid he knew in high school, only now she has fabulous curves and an irreverent sense of humor. The cozy bakery, with its aroma of sugar, vanilla and spice, has more to offer than tasty cookies.

Fiona MacLeod has been plagued for years by the need to make amends for telling The Big Lie. When the lie’s victim strolls into her bakery with his icy blue stare and killer charm, she feels like she’s standing too close to a hot oven.

Between running her bakery and frosting cupcakes for the Mad River Garden Party, she’s pretty sure she’s falling in love with this infuriating, sexy man. Can Fiona dredge up the courage to confess, face the consequences, and hope for forgiveness?

Excerpt:

“I remember those days.” She pushed the calculator to the side, too tired to worry about planning the week’s baking schedule. “Why’d you study journalism?

“Truth is important to me. I was tired of all the lies in government, at every level. I wanted to change that. Ultimately make the world a better place. Easy peasy, right?” His lips quirked and he shook his head.

“That’s why I decided to be a baker. Brighten someone’s day with a special treat.”

He scooted his chair closer and pointed at the column of numbers on the page. “You want me to do the rest?” His arm, bare to the bicep, lightly tanned, dusted with blond hair, a little lighter than on his head, rested less than an inch from her own spindly pale arm. Not spindly compared to other women, hefting bags of flour and moving trays of baked goods did take some muscle power. But spindly compared to his manly toned muscles flexing under skin that she’d bet her last jar of sprinkles was smooth and warm. She clenched her hand.

No touching allowed.

“We have cupcakes to frost.” She bounded from the chair and rushed into the kitchen.

Holy moly, the guy oozed sex. In a good way. A very good way. She pulled a clean apron off the shelf and cinched it around her waist. An extra layer of armor between her and temptation in the form of Raynor. The seeker of truth. The man whose mission in life was to expose lies. The reporter who thought liars were not decent human beings.

A little more about Luanna…

Luanna Stewart has been creating adventures for her imaginary friends since childhood. At the tender age of twelve she discovered her grandmother’s stash of romance novels, after which all plots had to lead to a happily-ever-after.

Luanna spends her days writing sexy romantic suspense, steamy paranormal romance, and spicy historical romance. When she’s not torturing her heroes and heroines, she’s either in her kitchen baking something delicious, or protecting her garden from the chickens. She lives in Nova Scotia with her incredibly patient husband and two spoiled cats.
