Life with a puppy….

So, 9 weeks ago we did something we’d been talking about for a while, but hadn’t put any action behind: we adopted a puppy.

I know…trust me.

It’s been 21 years since we last had a dog in this house. My daughter was 10 when our beloved Lab, Ella, passed away. I asked for a puppy every year after that for Christmas/birthday/anniversary, but hubby never thought the time was right.

Then, one day he did.

Maple Leaf came to us in September, just 2 days shy of her 8 week birthday.

To say it was an adjustment having a puppy in the house after 21 years and now at the age of 60, would not be wrong. But it was also a huge blessing.

She turned 17 weeks old this past Saturday and life has been…interesting, to say the least these past 2.5 months– for us and her!

She’s experienced her first Fall

and snowfall….

both within 2 days of each other.

She’s been to the Vet for her shots and medical care…

and she loves going for rides in my car:

She’s a good guard dog and always on patrol in case murderers and squirrels try to invade our house…

She puts anything in reach in her mouth – including straws…

She finds the craziest places to sleep, including the shower stall…

And she’s a bit of a camera diva…

Her newest thing is bringing us “presents” when she’s out for a walk. The other night my husband took her out just before bedtime and since it was dark, didn’t realize she had something in her mouth when they came back in. We were both ridiculously surprised at the mouse carcass she managed to find…

All in all, our hearts are full and Maple is a permanent fixture in our lives and hearts.

A #BestBook Review from @LASR for BAKED WITH LOVE

I’m not gonna lie…when I woke up the other day and found the email from Long and Short Reviews about BAKED WITH LOVE   concerning the review on their site, I was worried. This was the first professional review for the book, and considering it’s still in the preorder stage, I was concerned a bad review would effectively kill sales.

Hey. I’m a writer. We live and die for reviews and sales.

When I first clicked on the the link my heart sank because the very first thing I saw next to the book copy was 1 star.

1 star.

Think about what that means to an author to see 1 little star next to a book review and then multiply that feeling by a quadrillion and then square it and you know how I felt.

But then the review page opened and I saw that the 1 star had the words BEST BOOK written inside of it.

Okay, say what?
My eyes slid down to the start of the review and by the time I got to the end I couldn’t see my computer screen clearly any more because tears of joy clouded my vision. To mis-quote Sally Field, “She liked it! She really liked it!”

In fact, I venture to say, she loved it. Loved the entire Match Made in Heaven series, in fact.

Here’s the review:

I’m just going to be blunt and get right to the point. This is the best series I’ve read in a long time. It’s right up there with the Drake Sisters series by Christine Feehan and the Mackenzie Family series by Linda Howard.

When reviewing, there are many components in a narrative that I’m looking for. How developed and relatable were the cast of characters? Did the plot maintain my interest and flow at a reasonable pace with unexpected twists while keeping its realistic integrity? How was the chemistry between the hero and heroine? Did they receive their happily ever after? Were there any loose threads? Particularly from my point of view I want to laugh and feel a book glow for hours after finishing the book. It’s a bonus if I can add another hero to my list of book boyfriends. When I’m reading a series I want to feel that “coming home” sensation. The heartwarming feeling of being reunited with cherished friends and family.

It’s not often I can claim that a book meets all my criteria for what I consider a best book or best series. It is my honor to claim Baked with Love by Peggy Jaeger hit all my feel good spots. The Match in Heaven series has left a lasting impression on me. Yes, each book can be read as a standalone but I would not recommend it. The three together put any Hallmark show to shame. I’d like to see the series put into a movie.

I wish the characters were real and that I could meet them. I want to go stay at their inn. I’m a huge fan of Peggy Jaeger after reading several of her books.

The romance in this story is between Maureen and Lucas. I was waiting to read their story and I’m thrilled it was worth the wait. I can’t rave enough about how much I loved this book and the series. It’s a perfect Christmas present for your friends who love to read romance. This book will join my others on my book keeper list.

See why I was crying now??? That line about putting any Hallmark show to shame just about did me in!! In a good way.

She’s reviewed all the books in the series and has given me great reviews on each one. But a BEST BOOK review? Well, that was one that made me realize that maybe, just maybe, I was starting to get the hang of this writing career!

Here are the other reviews from L&SR for A Match Made in Heaven:

Wrapped Up With You #ReleaseDay from Claire Marti

My friend – and fabulous writer – Claire Marti, is re-releasing her Holiday story WRAPPED UP WITH YOU today and she graciously agreed to share a little about the book with my followers!!!! Look at this cover – isn’t it delicious??!!!!

When cocky financial genius Rafael Cruz is forced to partner with his snarky office rival Phoebe Hollingsworth to land a prestigious new client, nothing goes as planned. At work, they ignore each other, but at the Jingle Ball, their unexpected chemistry changes the game. Will their secret holiday hook-up ruin the deal or is it the start of a deeper connection?

He flashed a grin. “Look at us, agreeing and everything. This truce isn’t too tough.”

Her lips curved upward in the first genuine smile she’d ever bestowed on him. “We’re regular besties now. And who knows, maybe we can even extend it to work on Monday.”

He held up his hands and laughed. “Don’t get all wild and crazy on me now. One evening at a time.”

She rolled her eyes, but grinned back. “Anyways, should we head downstairs?”

Claire Marti started writing stories as soon as she was old enough to pick up pencil and paper. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a BA in English Literature, Claire was sidetracked by other careers, including practicing law, selling software for legal publishers, and managing a non-profit animal rescue for a Hollywood actress.

Finally, Claire followed her heart and now focuses on two of her true passions: writing contemporary romance filled with love and laughter and teaching yoga.

#ReleaseDay for Amber Daulton’s new Deerbourne Inn Novella HARMONY’S EMBRACE

WIld Rose Press sistah, AMBER DAULTON, has a new addition to the Deerbourne Inn series and today’s the release day!!! Check this out: Isn’t the cover gorgeous?? ( And hot, LOL!)

Harmony’s Embrace

Blurb

Reuniting with the man who broke her heart has never felt so right.

Divorced dad Birley Haynes is too busy raising his children and running his family’s music academy to start a relationship. Then Harmony Holdich, his high school sweetheart, returns home to Willow Springs, Vermont for Christmas and falls into his bed. She brings light and fun back into his life, but he can’t brush aside the threatening incidents around his workplace.

Harmony hadn’t expected a complication like Birley, especially so soon after the death of her unfaithful husband. With her life a mess, she plans to move across the country and start over. All she can offer him is a fling, but her heart yearns for more.

When the threats rise, how will Birley keep his children safe and convince Harmony to give love another chance?

 Excerpt:

He sighed heavily. Snapping at her wouldn’t convince her to stick around. “Have you thought about me over the years?”

Her bottom lip trembled, then she sucked it between her teeth. “Of course I have. High school was a long time ago, and our dreams clashed. You wanted a laidback life, even though you cut loose with Susannah in college. I wanted big-city living, and I got it. I like it.”

“So a rich-ass condo means that much to you? You want a new job slaving away five or six days a week for some major corporation until you’re exhausted?” He silently cursed. Not only did he slave away at his job, he was growing more tired of it by the day.

Good job, man. Way to control your temper.

In the back of his mind, he’d always believed he and Harmony would find one another again. Susannah and Claude didn’t compute. How crazy was that? Did he marry someone so different from himself because, subconsciously, he didn’t want the relationship to work?

A frown creased her brow. “I don’t need or want expensive things, but I like to work, to feel useful. My dream home is a little yellow bungalow with a big yard in a suburb.” She rocked in the chair as though she longed to jump up and run out the door. “I don’t want to argue. Let’s finish eating and hit the slopes.” She polished off her chips in a handful of loud crunches.

“What did you expect?” His throat constricted. “We’ve never hashed this stuff out since Susannah and Claude were always stuck up our asses. It’s time we deal with it.”

She scowled, then finished her grinder.

Birley gritted his teeth. Why had he been so stupid all those years ago? He’d wanted her to attend the University of Vermont with him, but she balked at another lengthy stint in school. He never should’ve walked off, leaving her crying on the porch of her parents’ house. She wanted time to think about her future—they’d only graduated from high school that morning—but her refusal didn’t mean she’d stopped loving him.

Too bad he hadn’t realized the truth at the time. She’d hurt his pride and broken his heart. Nothing mattered but hurting her in return. They avoided each other for the rest of the summer, then he headed off to the university.

God, how he’d missed her. She’d continued to work for her uncle while earning her accounting degree at a local community college and later moved to New Jersey for her job. Any chance of repairing their relationship had left with her, but by then, he was with Susannah.

Birley ate the rest of his sandwich, which slid down his gullet like cardboard. “No matter what you decide, I’m happy you’re home now.” The hope in his chest deflated. He stood and tugged on his gloves. “Let’s hit one of the blue squares. You okay with that?”

She nodded and followed him up. After they threw away their trash, they left the lodge.

#sundaySnippet 11.15.2020 A Booksweeps Preview~

Tomorrow, HOPE’S DREAM ( Deebourne Inn) is featured in the current Booksweeps Romance Book giveaway, so it made sense that today’s little snippet is from that. ****Don’t click the Booksweep slink, though, until tomorrow. It goes live at 10 am EST Monday, 11/16/2020

Here’s the blurb so you’ll know what the book’s about:

Hope Kildaire gave up her dream of becoming a nurse practitioner when a car accident killed her father and left her mother an invalid. Working two jobs and caring for her mother leaves the twenty-seven-year-old with no time for fun or relationships. When a law firm representing her paternal grandparents sends her several letters, Hope ignores them. She despises the family who disowned her father and wants nothing to do with them.

Lawyer Tyler Coleman’s job is simply to obtain Hope’s signature on a legal document. Getting it is harder than planned, though, when an unexpected attraction blossoms between them. If Ty is honest with Hope about why he’s in Willow Springs, he’ll fulfill his assignment but may risk hurting her.

The opportunity to have everything she’s ever desired is at Hope’s fingertips. Will her dream come true at the expense of Tyler’s love?

As he started back toward the inn, his hands secured in his pockets against the night chill and his neck burrowed under his scarf, he realized he needed to tell her who he was before this went any further. He should have done it tonight, as he’d originally planned. Why he hadn’t was as clear to him as the night sky above: he was frightened once she knew the truth she’d want nothing to do with him.

Could he blame her? While he hadn’t outright lied, he hadn’t told her the truth, either. Which was worse? An intentional fabrication or a lie of omission? Both felt equally wrong right now.

Disappointment had clouded her face when he’d broken their kiss. She felt something for him. That look proved it. He could only hope once she knew who he really was and why he was in her home town, she’d be able to forgive his subterfuge.

Intrigued? I hope so.

The books was originally released as digital only, but the WIld Rose Press graciously decided to put it out in print form, available only thru their website.

Until Now, that is. Hee hee

I’m pleased to say I’m offering print copies from my website store, on sale at a discounted price for the holiday season. Want a copy? Here ya go: OnLineBookStore

Just follow the directions on how to order and I’ll make sure Hope and Tyler’s story gets to you for the holiday season!

Something new – and for a limited time.

With the advent of Covid, our shopping lives have changed, drastically.

On-line shopping has grown even more important for getting our daily needs. The 2020 holiday shopping season is going to be unlike any other, of that I’m sure.

Because I know people are struggling with making ends meet right now, but still want to read books and give them as presents, I wanted to make it easier and cheaper to do that, so, today, I’ve opened my own bookstore here on my website ( for a limited time) in order for people to order my books at a reduced price for themselves or to give as gifts. Here’s the link to the page: Peggy’s Book Store

I’m offering several of my books, directly from me, at a lowered price. Instructions on how to order are on the page, so just give it a once over, see if any of the books are for you, or that you’d like to gift a romance reader on your holiday list! These are the books available. Prices and instructions for ordering are on the webpage, but they are all reduced  and less than amazon and other retailers – AND these are all PRINT BOOKS.

Happy Shopping, peeps ~Peg

#CoverReveal for BAKED WITH LOVE ( A Match Made in Heaven, bk 3)

Well, I’ve been teasing about it for about 2 weeks now!!!

I’m so excited to show you the youngest O’Dowd sister Maureen’s cover for BAKED WITH LOVE...ta da!!!!

OMG isn’t it gorgeous!!!

Graphic designer and artist Diana Carlile has done it again. She’s designed all 3 of the covers for this series and each one is more beautiful than the last!

Here’s a little about BAKED WITH LOVE, which gets released on 12.9.2020, just in time for  your Holiday shopping!

Innkeeper Maureen O’Dowd lives to cook and bake, spoils her family and friends, and is an expert at keeping secrets, especially about the man who’s held her heart for years.

Police Chief Lucas Alexander is dealing with an aging father and a moody teenage son, and he’s in love with a woman who only wants to be friends.

How can these two fiercely private people reveal their feelings for one another without destroying the friendship they already have? And if they’re successful, will another secret, if revealed, drive a wedge between Maureen and Lucas that can never be repaired?

I truly can not wait to see what readers think about these two and the twisted way they get to their HEA.

If you haven’t read the other two books in the series yet, let me make this easy….

Dearly Beloved

Today, Tomorrow, Always
