A new #DeerbourneInn release from #author Donna Simonetta

Today I’m super excited to present another DEERBOURNE INN novella to you from one of my favorite, one click authors, my friend DONNA SIMONETTA. Donna’s Inn addition is titled LOVE CALLS YOU HOME and it’s a wonderful coming home again, second chance romance ( my absolute fav trope!) At the end of the blog I’ve given a link where you can read my review for this lovely book. Here’s a hint: 5 stars isn’t high enough!

Here’s a little about LOVES CALLS YOU HOME

Stephanie Williams left skid marks on the road out of Willow Springs, Vermont after she finished high school. She didn’t return until her company sent her to evaluate the town for a massive development project. Back then she thought the town was way too small and too cold. Now the cold isn’t as much of an issue since she’s reconnected with her childhood friend, Donald Flanagan. Stephanie doesn’t remember his eyes being quite so green, or his body quite so built. He’s smart and funny as he ever was, and a forest-fire sized attraction burns between them.

Donald never understood his old friend’s driving need to leave Willow Springs. He loves everything about it. When he learns the truth about Stephanie’s project, and how it will turn his hometown into a theme-park version of itself, will it extinguish the flame that has sparked between them?

Excerpt:

It was much darker on this side of the building, without the bright, neon lights around the entrance, and even though they could hear the muffled music through the wall, it felt as though they were all alone in the world. Donald stopped and turned to face her, which placed her between him and the building. He cupped her face in his hands, and Stephanie marveled that she’d never noticed how big his hands were before. He leaned down a little and studied her face. His eyes seemed to be searching for a clue as to what she wanted. There were complications aplenty––putting their lifelong friendship at risk, and her work here in town, which Donald still didn’t know the extent of, being two major hurdles, but Stephanie knew what she wanted right now. She knew it from the bottom of her toes to the top of her head, with a certainty she’d never experienced before. Her blood pounded in her veins, and she felt a little breathless with excitement about the step they were about to take.

“Hurry up and kiss me, Flanagan, before I spontaneously combust.”

One side of the mouth she longed to be kissing quirked up in a sexy half-grin. “There’s no turning back if we take this step, Williams. Are you sure?”

A little #sneakpeek at DIRTY DAMSELS

I’ve got a new book release going livelivelive on July 2 – just in time for Summer Beach Reading season. While my cover is being finalized by the talented graphic artists at Limitless Publications  I’ve been doing a little graphic work of my own and have made some Book “Teasers” to share to get people interested in the book. Remember that Influencer post from yesterday, peeps? Hee hee

Here are some of the graphics I designed:

I’m kinda proud of myself, you know? I deal in words, not pictures, so for me to make these was hard work and made me use creative muscles I’m not used to using.

Once the cover is set in stone, I’ll share that, along with preorder links. Just know for now the Publication date is 7.2.19 and the pre-order date will probably be about a week earlier.

I’ll keep in touch, never fear!

~Until next time…. ~Peg

In a world of #followers I’d like to be an #Influencer

I’m going to bet if you know what the above icon is, you’ll understand the title of this blog.

First, a little backstory.

When I was a kid, roughly 175 years ago, my third grade teacher, Mrs. Karen Sinclair, said something to me one day that has stayed with me all these millennia later. I was an overweight, thick glasses-wearing, curly haired, shy kid prone to impulse control issues when it came to talking in class. I was bullied – horribly – by both girls and boys. At that age, there really is no division along sex lines with bullying. One day, after an especially verbally vicious attach on the recess playground, I came back into the classroom, sullen and non-communicative. When class ended for the day, Mrs. Sinclair asked me to stay after. She wormed out of me what had been said on the playground. When I cried that all I wanted to do was fit in, be like everyone else, but couldn’t because 1. my clothes were wrong, 2. my hair was wrong, 3. I was ugly, 4. I was fat…etc…. (you get the picture) she took my hand and told me this: “Don’t be a follower.  Don’t be like everyone else. You were born to be a leader, Margaret, to be yourself. There’s only one you. Don’t settle for less.”

Yeah, she was my favorite teacher of all time.

Fast forward 165 years to the present.

The above symbol is the INSTAGRAM logo. Since I started my writing journey, I’ve been attempting to get people to read my books through various marketing methods, one of them, posting on Instagram. Recently, I came across a phase that “called” to me: Influencer. Apparently, there are people (millennials, mostly) who have huge Insta-followers and who get paid for taking pictures of themselves with products. The companies who manufacture the products, pay these kids  for simply posting a picture. People see the picture and are Influenced to buy the product because they want to be like the cool person they are following.

Can you spell BRILLIANT!!

I have a decent amount of Instagram followers and I’m gonna work on getting more, but for now, here’s me at my new job, taking a picture with a product I’d like to tell people about so they can buy it and be cool like me. I’m an Influencer:

Hee hee

Sorry the book is backward – this whole Influencer thing is gonna take time to perfect. 🙂 But  you get the idea.

~until next time ~ Peg

#Author Mary Morgan introduces her newest #book DESTINY OF A WARRIOR

My lovely writing friend and WILD ROSE PRESS sistah, Mary Morgan, has another wonderful addition to her LEGENDS OF THE FENIAN WARRIOR SERIES, DESTINY OF A WARRIOR. Today,  she’s here with 8 reasons why you should read this book ( and really, you should read ALL of her books, but that’s just my humble opinion.

Here’s Mary……

Eight Reasons You Should Read Destiny of a Warrior

  1. Fenian Warrior, Aidan Kerrigan is the perfect hero. He’s ancient and powerful—honorable and loyal to his people. At seven foot tall with eyes the color of lavender and silver, he conveys a charismatic charm that oozes with raw sexiness. Need I say more?
  2. You get to explore ancient standing stones (think Stonehenge) and find out what some of the graffiti on the stones mean.
  3. Not only are you able to wander inside a thirteenth century Scottish castle, but an even older one in Ireland.
  4. I’m taking you inside the Pleasure Gardens within the Fae realm. Be forewarned and prepared. It’s extremely sensual.
  5. You get to witness a favorite hobby of the Queen of the Fae.
  6. As a member of the Society of the Thistle, Rose MacLaren will show you her secret agenda regarding the standing stones, and it doesn’t pertain to botanical study.
  7. Discover what a Fenian Warrior likes to cook.
  8. Celtic Mythology comes alive within the pages of this story, and when you’re done, you’ll feel transported into another world.

DESTINY OF A WARRIOR

“You met him in the Order of the Dragon Knights. Now, journey to the realm of the Fae and witness their greatest legend!”

As leader of the Fenian Warriors, Aidan Kerrigan’s accolades are many and his loyalty to the Fae unwavering. When an unexpected mission sends him to the human world and a chance encounter with Rose MacLaren, he’s tempted for the first time in his existence to discard duty and claim what is forbidden.

Rose MacLaren, a Society of the Thistle member, yearns to expand her botanical knowledge with her love of history. After her rescue by a handsome stranger, she is compelled to look beyond what her rational mind comprehends and unravel the secret of the standing stones, as well as the man who captivates her.

In a mystical world ruled by ancient laws and edicts, can a fierce warrior choose a path destined for love? And will a woman honoring the ways of the land believe in a myth only spoken of in legends? If they do, will their love be enough to defy death’s punishment?

Excerpt:

A chill of foreboding swept through him. In her short time of being among these standing stones, she’d obtained bits of knowledge no one else had come upon. “Continue,” he encouraged softly.

Hugging her notebook against her chest, she went to the tallest stone in the center. “These symbols and images on the back mirror the three centered on the slab. In addition, they are all the same as the other site outside of Glasgow.”

“They’re merely circles,” he admitted, keeping his voice steady. “The Celtic triskele symbol also decorates many other stone structures.”

Her brow furrowed in obvious concentration as she disappeared around the back of the stone.

Tossing the pinecone aside, Aidan stood. His instincts screamed at him to do something to prevent her from further inspecting the stone. Only he knew the significance. And he now understood why he was sent here. In all his travels, not one human had documented his time among them. Or so he believed. Upon his arrival, he longed to pulverize the stones to shards of dust after viewing the back. The altar stone had remained buried under moss, dirt, and ivy. The same was true with the tallest stone at its base.

He fought against extending his hand outward and sinking the area a thousand feet underground. Making quick strides to Rose, he came to an abrupt halt. Her face was ashen as she knelt behind the stone, sketching an entire scene on her notepad. One side mirrored the stones, but on the opposite page, her hand drew an epic vista.

The blood pounded inside his head, and he dared to draw in a breath. With each stroke of her hand, an image came to life and his greatest fear unfolded. Slowly, Aidan lifted his hand. The power built and traveled down his arm. He had to destroy the picture. Banish the past vision from her mind. Eradicate all knowledge of him. Seal the door to the past from the present.

The truth must never be revealed.

But when Rose lifted her gaze to meet his, Aidan’s heart stopped. For the first time in his life, he was torn between duty and his own personal need.

“I am sorry,” he stated in a strangled voice.

I have no voice…literally and metaphorically

Since last week I’ve been aphonic. For those of you who didn’t go to nursing school like me, that means, I have no voice. Allergy season is in full force here in New England and the pollen, rain, mold, moss ratios are uber-high, so when that happens and my allergies go “Yippie!” the polyps I have on my vocal cords swell, resulting in a very quiet Jaeger household. Hubby is pretty decent at reading lips, but I’ve become a real hermit this past week because leaving the house without a voice is difficult if you need to interact with people vocally.

This isn’t the first time I’ve been aphonic. Several years ago my ENT doc put me on voice rest for 2 months because the polyps were gigantor and he wanted to give them a rest. Have you got any idea what it’s like for a girl who loves to talk not to be able to?? Torture is too tame a word.

Anyhoo….

This past week, and like with every event in my life, I started thinking about how I could use this aphonia, or some aspect of it, in my writing.

How would you help a person who can’t speak, communicate?

What tools would you give them ( if any) in order for them to go about their lives?

Would a character like this be sympathetic? ( In reality, I’m not a sympathetic character, so this one stumps me.)

What kind of love interest would be willing to become involved with someone who can never SAY Iove you?

This is where the show, don’t tell part of writing would be strong, because I would need the character to continually be in movement, trying to get their point across, because they couldn’t say what they wanted to say.

Can you see how difficult, challenging, and thought provoking an aphonic character would be to write?
Kinda like my life right now: difficult, challenging and thought provoking.

Oh, and for those people who think they will be helpful and write to me telling me I can have surgery or laser removal of my  polyps, know this: it isn’t a possibility for me. I would lose my vocal chords completely due to the size and scope of the polyps, so, no. I can tolerate a few days or weeks without a voice. But  the next 40-50 years. yeah, not so much. Thanks, though.

Until next time ~Peg

#LongandShortReviews #Wednesdaybloggingchallenge 6.5.19

Today’s topic is BOOKS THAT NEED A SEQUEL and…..I’m lost.

I have a feeling I know the books  most people think need sequels, but I’m not so sure.

The Catcher in the Rye – I’ll be honest – I hate this book. But…I can see people wanting to know what happens to Holden when he ( finally) grows up.

Gone Girl. Want to know if she had the baby? If she was ever sent to prison?

The Handmaid’s Tale. The HULU show makes you believe the story continued after the end of the book. But Atwood hasn’t written a sequel yet and I’m not sure the way the TV show depicts what happens in Gilead is what she’d like to happen.

To Kill A Mockingbird. Want to know if the town changes it’s opinion of Boo based on how he’s treated by Scout and Addicus? Or if the racist attitudes of the town folk change with time and wisdom?

Charlotte’s Web. Want to know what happens to Wilbur and the gang after Charlotte’s “babies” appear?

In all honesty, most books that are standalones are standalones for a reason ( in my humble opinion). I’ve gotten closure on them. We all saw how miserably a sequel fail, esp. if not written by the original author. Anyone remember SCARLET, the supposed sequel to Gone With The Wind? Yeah, I don’t either.

Just sayin’..

Let’s see what books the other authors in this challenge think need sequels: L&SR

Until next time ~Peg

Proof that I work hard…even if I never get out of my pajamas!

I was a little silent on Social Media over the weekend because I was flat out, ass crazy busy with writing stuff. I’ve got a sale going on right now for DEARLY BELOVED; I’m partnered on two Booksweeps  giveaways, one in Romantic Comedy , one in Sweet Romance, and I’ve got a ton of blog appearances set for the next two weeks in addition to other authors visiting my blog.  I got one newly contracted book back for edits, another I needed to finish and a third I needed to start.  This past Saturday and Sunday I spent all day, both days, playing catch up.

My husband, who still thinks when I say “I’m working,” means I’m sitting in my office trolling the Internet, for the first time understood what that meant.

You see, I write a detailed daily to-do list each week in a spiral notebook I keep on my desk. Each page is filled with what I need to accomplish for that specific date. This weekend there were 48 individual things on the list. He came into my office yesterday morning, saw the list on my desk and asked, “is that everything for next month?”

My reply? “No. Thats everything for today and tomorrow.” Then I flipped the pages and showed him the week ahead.

He won’t be asking anymore what I do all day.

Hey – here’s a reminder. Tomorrow I’m doing a facebook page takeover over on Trashy and Terrific. Here’s the page link: T&T

I’ll be on from 4am EST until about 9 pm EST, so join me. I’ll have games, a few giveaways and lots more stuff!  Pleas join me and pass it on to all your book reading and romance loving friends.

Until next time ~Peg

Through the Red Door is #0nsale Get your copy today!

I love when I find a great book. I love it even more when the author is one of my Wild Rose Press Sistahs!   And the best? When that great book by that fab author is ON SALE!!!! Sadira Stone is having such a sale!

99-Cent Sale! Through the Red Door, Book One in the Book Nirvana series, is just 99 cents (eBook only) on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes from May 31st through June 13th.

Fans of steamy contemporary romance, bookshops, and sexy historical artwork will love this tale of new beginnings after grief.

Blurb:

Letting him inside could be her salvation…or her undoing.

Clara Martelli clings to Book Nirvana, the Oregon bookshop she and her late husband Jared built together. When rising rents and corporate competition threaten its survival, her best hope is their extensive erotica collection, locked behind a red door. In dreams and signs, her dead husband tells her it’s time to open that door and move on. When a dark and handsome stranger’s powerful magnetism jolts her back to life and he wants a look at the treasures of that secret room, she can’t help but want to show him more.

Professor Nick Papadopoulos is looking for historical erotica. Book Nirvana’s collection surpasses his wildest dreams, and so does its lovely owner. A widower, he understands Clara’s battle with guilt, but their searing chemistry is too strong to resist. Besides, he will only be in town for two weeks, not long enough for her to see beyond the scandal that haunts his past.

Here’s a peek inside:

Clara and Jared were adventurous lovers, but this was beyond anything they’d tried, or even imagined. She turned the book sideways and peered closer at the drawing. Something touched her shoulder and, startled, she squeaked like a little girl and slammed the book shut.

Beside her stood Nick, the smutty professor, holding a plate with two scones. Was that a blush coloring his chiseled cheeks? With his deep olive complexion, it was hard to tell. She lowered her gaze and found herself looking right at his crotch.

Damn it!

With no safe place to direct her gaze, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

“Sorry, Clara. Beautiful women bring out my devilish side. Please forgive me.” He slid a new scone onto her empty plate, then sat beside her. “I guess Shunga isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.”

“Shunga?”

Nick nodded. “This type of painting or woodblock print. There’s usually a funny text to go with it.” He balanced the book between them, resting on the arms of their two chairs, then glanced at her, an eyebrow raised.

Okay, Clara, time to put on your big girl panties. You can handle this.

She nodded.

Nick flipped to a new page. “The beautiful costumes and hair arrangements date from the Edo era, roughly the 1600s through the mid-1800s. And here’s the text.” He pointed to columns of delicate Oriental writing.

“Can you read it?”

“Not very well. I have a friend here at the university who can help with the translations. This really is an extraordinary book.” He sipped his coffee and flipped the page.

“Are their, um, private parts always so large?”

He shot her another devilish grin. “Always. You know, it’s funny. In European artwork, male genitals are often unusually small, compared to…” He glanced down at his own lap.

She followed his gaze, then jerked her eyes away. Her voice creaked like a twelve-year-old boy’s. “Yes, I’ve—uh—I’ve noticed.”

“But in Shunga, all the genitals are outsized.”

“Doesn’t that scare women away?”

“On the contrary—these drawings were presented in ‘Pillow Books’ designed to instruct young couples in the art of love.”

Author Bio:

Ever since her first kiss, Sadira’s been spinning steamy tales in her head. After leaving her teaching career in Germany, she finally tried her hand at writing one. Now she’s a happy citizen of Romancelandia, penning contemporary romance and cozy mysteries from her home in Washington State. When not writing, which is seldom, she explores the Pacific Northwest with her charming husband, enjoys the local music scene, belly dances, plays guitar badly, and gobbles all the books. Just in time for the summer: A take-a-book-to-the-Beach Sale!

I’m so excited for my first Summer Book Sale of 2019!

Eons ago, when I was ( cough, cough,) younger, I loved going to the beach on any day I had off from work during the summer. Back them we didn’t have kindles and nooks and what-evers. We had real, paperprinted books. I’d take my current read and my lounge chair, find  a sunny spot and spend the day reading and getting a tan.

Nowadays, my dermatologist has forbidden me from lying in the sun, so I grab  a book and sit  under a beach umbrella in the shade. Either way, the common denominator is A BOOK FOR THE BEACH! Hee hee.

Book 1 in my Match Made in Heaven series, DEARLY BELOVED, is currently on sale for just 99 cents for the e-version. The sale covers Amazon Kindle, B&N Nook and i-Tunes…whatever ( phone, Ipad, you know!) Here are the links:

Amazon // Nook // i-tunes

Playboy Slade Harrington doesn’t believe in marriage. His father’s six weddings have taught him life is better as an unencumbered single guy. But Slade loves his little sister. He’ll do anything for her, including footing the bill for her dream wedding. He doesn’t plan on losing his heart to a smart-mouthed, gorgeous wedding planner, though.

When her ex-fiancé comes back into the picture, Colleen must choose between Mr. Right and Mr. Right Now.
