My first IN-PERSON event since the beginning of COVID! Yowza.
I’m pretty stoked about this, kids! My first in person, livelivelive author event in almost 2 years. I can’t believe it’s been so long since I was at a book signing, or reading.
This coming Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the Goffstown Public Library, I have the thrill and honor of being one of 8 authors who will be meeting the public, doing a reading from one of our books, and selling print copies of our books.
Like I said, I am stoked.
Here’s the official blurb/newspaper story from the LIbrary:
Author Fair🖋
Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 9am – 1pm
Join us for the inaugural Goffstown Public Library Author’s Fair; meet and greet artists who use words to fashion action, emotion, and inspiration. Stop by the Speaker’s Corner to hear selections read out loud, chat with the writers, purchase personally inscribed books.
No registration required for attendees. Questions? Please email Elizabeth Weilbacher at elizabethw@Goffstownlibrary.com or ask for her at 603-497-2102.
‣ This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the New Hampshire State Library. Learn more about summer programming at the Library at http://www.goffstownlibrary.com/calendar.
I hope any of you who are near Goffstown, or the surrounding areas, can come out and say hi! It’s been too long since we all connected on a personal, livelivelive level!
Pray for no rain!

#LongandShortReviews #wednesdaybloggingchallenge 3.4.2020
I’m really loving this year’s themes and topics from L&SR! Today’s is: CHARACTERS WHO REMIND ME OF MYSELF AND WHY.
This could be a really looooooooong blog post, but I’m gonna narrow it down to 2!
The first DR. CHARLOTTE MIRA from the IN DEATH books by JD Robb. Mira is a touchstone in Eve’s life. In the early books she shows her compassion and caring for Eve from a professional standpoint, as she tries to get the (then) detective to see herself as worthy of love and respect, and as more than just her job. Eve’s tragic past has been pushed deep down in her memory banks and as Mira works with Eve, she comes to remember killing her father and the horrible events that lead to it. Throughout the now 50 books and still growing series, Charlotte has come to love Eve like a daughter and has shown Eve a mother’s love that she never had. Mira is smart, soso smart, caring, compassionate and well respected not only by the police department, but by her peers. Since my background is in psychology, I love reading Mira’s profiles on the criminals and murderer’s Eve asks for, plus her husband, the yummy Dennis Mira, is just so wonderful I would love to call him my own! If they ever make an In Death movie, I am going to petition HARD to be cast as Mira…hey, we can all dream, right? Heehee
The second character who reminds me a lot of me is one I wrote: GEMMA LAINE from the WILL COOK FOR LOVE SERIES/ A SHOT AT LOVE. Gemma is such a dichotomy – much like me. She is a successful photographer; she can shoot any gun you give her, and she has two black belts in different styles of karate. She is intensely loyal to her family, yet due to a sexual assault when she was a shy, introverted teenager, she is leery of ever letting a man get under her skin. She keeps people at at distance – except for her family – and uses her snarky, sassy personality to keep people at a distance. She never shows what she is truly feeling and goes after what she wants without regrets. Gemma is my doppelganger in so many ways. I also shoot, have studied 2 styles of karate, and use humor and snarkiness to keep people at a distance. While I may not have been sexually abused at a teen, I was emotionally and physically abandoned by my father, so I know the pain of feeling like you are not worthy or not enough for someone to love.
Let’s see what some of the other authors in this challenge have to say. L&SR
Until next time ~ Peg

#1stKissFriday 4.19.19
This meme is so appropriate for today’s #1stkissfriday edition because it’s from COOKING WITH KANDY and it’s about… a kiss!!! Hee hee
COOKING WITH KANDY is my first book in the WILL COOK FOR LOVE series and introduces series “matriarch” and cheflebrity Kandy Laine. When a private eye/bodyguard is hired to find out who’s stalking our favorite chef, sparks fly and love ensues, mixed in with a little eating, cooking, and romance. And guess what? The ebook is on sale now for just 99Cents for a limited time, so if you haven’t read it, now’s your chance!!
Kandy Laine built her wildly popular food empire the old-fashioned way—starting with the basic ingredients of her grandmother’s recipes and flavoring it all with her particular brand of sweet spice. From her cookbooks to her hit TV show, Kandy is a kitchen queen—and suddenly someone is determined to poison her cup. With odd accidents and threatening messages piling up, strong-willed Kandy can’t protest when her team hires someone to keep her safe—but she can’t deny that the man for the job looks delicious. . .
Josh Keane is a private investigator, not a bodyguard. But with one eyeful of Kandy’s ebony curls and dimpled smile, he’s signing on to uncover who’s cooking up trouble for the gorgeous chef. As the attraction between them starts to simmer, it’s not easy to keep his mind on the job, but when the strange distractions turn to true danger, he’ll stop at nothing to keep Kandy safe—and show her that a future together is on the menu. . .
“You’re gonna wash the floor? Now?” He glanced down at his watch.
It was almost midnight.
“I never leave off cleaning my kitchen after a big prep,” she said, filling the bucket with hot water from the sink.
“Here, let me do it,” he said, taking over. “You’ve been going since four thirty this morning. It’s time for bed, Kandy. Go get ready. You’ve had a full, exhausting a day.”
She wouldn’t give him the mop. “I’m doing this, Josh. It won’t take more than five, ten minutes, tops.”
“Your work ethic astounds me. I can’t decide if you’re just plain stubborn or obstinate, but you’ll be no good tomorrow if you’re overtired and have a house full of company to entertain. And you still have stuff to do in the morning.”
She didn’t budge.
“Kandy, it’s midnight. You need sleep. Rest. Now let me have the mop.” He put out his hand. She glared at it for a few beats and then ignored it, turning back to the sink to lift the bucket.
“No. You go to bed. I’m finishing this.”
“Look, I’m not playing around.”
“Of course you’re not. You’re just naturally bossy and domineering. Well, here’s a news flash, Joshua Keane,” she said, dropping the bucket back into the sink, water sloshing out the sides. “I’m a grown-up. I do want I want, when I want. And I want to wash my floor. Now. You go to bed.”
He couldn’t believe she was arguing with him over something so stupid. For that matter, he couldn’t believe he was contending with her. But something in her tone rattled him and, even though he knew it was childish, he refused to back down.
Arms crossed, legs braced in a stance of defiance, he said, “You know, I weigh double what you do. I can just take that mop out of your hands. It wouldn’t be hard at all.”
She turned back to him, the blue in her light eyes deepening. “Go ahead and try,” she challenged, one hand on her hip in a stance of rebellion, the other gripping the mop handle.
They were standing toe to toe, each unwilling to bend.
Josh’s hand snaked out to grab the mop and Kandy effortlessly slapped it away. Without missing a beat, his other hand wound around her back, yanking her full force against his chest, the mop between them.
Kandy’s cry of surprise spit from her as she stared, wide-eyed, up into his face.
They were so close he could see the pulse beating at her temple as he stared down at her.
“Don’t challenge me if you’re not prepared to meet the consequences,” he said, his voice low and blunt.
She stared up at him, a sneer just beginning to form on her lips. “You don’t scare me.”
In the span of a heartbeat his head came down to hers, while she craned her neck toward him.
When their lips met the argument died.
Damn it.
He knew she’d feel like this, taste like this. Heaven. Pure and total heaven. Josh snaked his hands down her back, delighting in every curve and crevice he touched, to settle on her sweet ass. He swallowed her gasp against his mouth and gripped her butt, grinding her against his immediate, rock-hard erection.
When he felt her, soft, warm, and plastered against his body, he echoed her groan with one of his own.
He’d dreamed it would feel like this with her. Hot and spicy, delectable and scrumptious, just like her cooking. Her mouth was made for kissing, full and lush, swollen with need and desire.
Josh wanted nothing more than to eat her whole.
Clenching her even tighter, his lips left the mouthwatering taste of hers to wander across her cheeks, down to her chin. His tongue tasted the hollow behind her ear, his lips gliding across the silky skin of her neck.
Like a man starved for a lifetime, he devoured her. Kandy arched backward, giving him free access to all those regions, while clutching fistfuls of his hair in her strong hands. His tongue laved at the exposed skin of her collarbone, trailed back up to the corner of her ear, and when he captured the small lobe in his mouth and sucked, felt Kandy shudder with such erotic violence against him, he almost dropped to his knees.
“Josh.”
He pulled back and stared down at her flushed and glowing face. Her eyes were closed, her lips parted, waiting for him to kiss her again.
She was, without doubt, the most beautiful, most desirable woman he’d ever seen.
She felt so good, so right, against him. As if they’d been created and carved for each other.
And he wanted her like he’d wanted nothing else in his life. But he knew he couldn’t have her. A cold fist of reality punched through his desire-drenched body. She needed him to protect her, not seduce her. The notion that she wanted him as much as he did her didn’t change that fact.
“Kandy. Open your eyes.”
When she did he almost lost the small amount of sanity he still possessed and took her right there, braced against the sink.
Her beautiful blue irises were transparent crystals filled with heat and longing. Josh swore he could see to her very core; he could have melted into them without thought. Her gaze raked down his face to his lips, and she pulled a hand from his hair and traced a delicate line in the dimple under his bottom lip, just above his jawline.
Josh’s abdominal muscles contracted. He grabbed her hand, placed a chaste kiss on the open palm, and watched her expression change from captivated to confused.

#WinterWonderland #L&SR #WednesdayBlogChallenge
So this week’s topic is FAVORITE THINGS TO DO IN THE WINTER. Timely, no?
I could be really perky and positive here and tell you I love to ski, ice skate, snow board. Or that I go for long, long walks during the most brutal of winter days, fully invigorated and stimulated by the frigid air whipping around my face. That curling is my sport of preference, or animal tracking in the woods is a fun family activity.
I could tell you all those things…but it would all be lies.
I’m not going to mince words here: I absolutely hate winter.
I hate the cold.
I hate that I have to wear 947 layers just to go from the car to the inside of the grocery store.
I hate snow, ice, wind. In no order, and all together!
I hate wearing hats and gloves. Boots and snow tires. Using shovels and snowblowers.
Get the picture?
Yeah. I hate winter.
And because I do I spend as much time as possible indoors, hibernating, reading, and drinking hot drinks.
So, my favorite thing to do in the winter? Well, a picture is worth ten million words, so….
And since reading by the fire truly is one of my favorite pastimes during the long, long, ridiculously long winter months, here’s one of my new favorites that just also happens to be one of mine:

Connor Gilhooly is in a bind. He needs a specialty cake for an upcoming fundraiser and puts himself—and his company’s reputation—in Regina’s capable hands. What he doesn’t plan on is falling for a woman with heartbreak in her eyes or dealing with a wise-guy father and a disapproving family.

Winding down….
I have to admit I have been remiss these past few days in posting. So freakin’ much has been happening here in Denver, it’s all I can do just to keep up!
Let’s recap.
Thursday was the Kensington Book Signing.
My table was filled with readers all wanting a copy of my newest Lyrical book CAN’T STAND THE HEAT, plus the handpainted bags I give out as swag. I “sold out” within 15 minutes of the 1 hour aloted signing. But I got to hang out with one of my fav Kensington authors Jenna Jaxon.
Then, the Oscars of the romance reading world, THE RITA AWARDS completed the day with a ceremony filled with heartfelt moments and more than a few heated speeches about the state of the romance book world, and the world in general. The RITAs are a strange mix of glitz, glamour, and casual. Some of the writers wear gowns, sparkly stilettoes, and I spied 2 tiaras. Others wear business clothes – suits or cocktail dresses. Some even wear their comfy jeans and blouses. This diversity in attire -to me- explains the romance writer to the…T ( Heehee). We come from all backgrounds, races, economic statuses, age groups, and styles, yet we all write HEA’s, hunky heroes, and strong women. Love that. Simply, love that.
The workshops have been, for the most part, informative. There was a wide assortment of Indy workshops this year that didn’t pertain to me, since I’m traditionally published. I’ve seen this as a trend in most of the conferences I’ve attended the past few years. More things relating to self publishing than to the more traditional avenue. I don’t know how I feel about that, since I’ll never go Indy ( and you know what they say about never saying never) but I guess it’s a good thing the workshops are offered for all aspects that comprise the romance publishing realm.
On Friday night I attended the Kensington Books party where the appetizers were the most delicious things I think I’ve ever eaten!! Then off to the Contemporary Romance Writers Awards ceremony, where I was a finalist in the romantic suspense category for A SHOT AT LOVE.
I may have mentioned I was a finalist once or twice ( or ten million times!) on the blog. Alas, I didn’t win, but it was really great to be a finalist in such a prestigious group. The more people who see your name, the more readers you can potentially garner who will like your work. That’s the way I look at it, at least.
So, yesterday, Saturday, was the final day and again – jammpacked!!! I’ll be posting about that later. For now, I need to get to the airport and leave for home, my bed, and my hubby!! Miss them so much!
