So, we’re now exploring my second series WILL COOK FOR LOVE from Kensington/Lyrical Press. I really loved writing this series. Book 2 is A SHOT AT LOVE and concerns Gemma Laine, the family rebel. Gemma gets herself into some hot water and when she finds herself in the sights of a crime lord, must be placed into government protection. Enter Ky Pappandreos, the smooth, quiet FBI agent who’s ordered to protect her. These two people couldn’t be more different. And that’s why making them fall in love was so much fun for me.

A SHOT AT LOVE ( WIll Cook for Love, Book 2)

Nothing’s impossible when love is on the menu. In Peggy Jaeger’s luscious series, the only thing more tempting than a delicious meal is a truly delectable romance . . .
Look for exclusive recipes in each book!

Photographer Gemma Laine is looking for arresting faces on the streets of Manhattan when her camera captures something shocking—a triple murder. In that moment, she becomes a target for the mob—and a top priority for a very determined, breathtakingly handsome, FBI special agent. With deadlines to meet and photo shoots on her calendar, Gemma chafes at the idea of protection, but every moment she spends under his watchful eye is a temptation to lose herself in his muscular arms . . .

With two of his men and one crucial witness dead, Special Agent Kyros Pappandreos can’t afford to be distracted. But Gemma is dazzling—and her connection to Kandy Laine’s high-profile cooking empire makes her an especially easy mark for some very bad people. Keeping her safe is much more pleasure than business, but as the heat between them starts to sizzle, Ky is set to investigate whether they have a shot at love . . .

When he entered the conference room a moment later, he thought he was prepared for the jolt seeing her in the flesh would cause again. He was wrong. The second he opened the door and saw her eyes tracking him like those of a caged animal’s, he realized just how wrong. A subtle, unmistakable, pang of unease sliced right into his midsection, cutting off all circulation except to his groin. With a mental and physical shake, he approached her.

Anger percolated through her from across the room.
“Miss Laine—”

“Why am I still here? I gave my statement. I want my memory card and I want to go home. I have a ton of work to do.”

Ky reached down deep to curb his temper. “I need to clarify a few things first.”

“What things?” She leaned back against the wall, leveling him with a hard stare. “I told your partner everything I remember. In vivid detail.”

“Yes, I read your statement. Please.” He motioned to a chair. “Have a seat.”

“I’d rather stand.”

He couldn’t tell if she was being purposefully obnoxious when her chin tilted up defiantly at him or if it was a character trait. Regardless, he pulled the facing chair from the table and sat.

“You mentioned in your statement you were out walking when you noticed the shooting.”

“No, that’s not correct.” She must have forgotten her reason for standing because she moved back to the chair and settled into it. “I said I was out working and noticed the trio of men coming out of the restaurant.”

Ky knew that. He wanted to see if she’d change any of the details with time.

“The older man had an attention-grabbing face,” she continued, resting her arms on the table. “I’m on the lookout for interesting faces.”

“So you notice him, see his face and decide, what? To take his picture? Just like that?”

She nodded. “It’s what I do. I’m working on a book called Faces of New York.”

“What was so fascinating about his?”

“It wasn’t so much his face as the expression on it,” she said. “He’d just come out of Sam’s. I figured he’d eaten lunch because he was patting his stomach and had a contented, gratified smile on his lips. So I took his picture. A series of them, in fact, as he continued walking.”

“Why did you continue snapping away? You had your shot. Why take more?”

Gemma blew out a breath and leaned back in the chair, arms crossed over her chest again. “Do you know anything about photography?”

“No, not really.”

She sliced a finger through the side of her hair and tucked the strands behind her ears. It refused to settle and fell back across her cheeks the moment she removed her hand.

IT’S A TRUST THING goes WIDE!

When I first started on the crooked road to self/indie publishing, I had to learn a lot of things.

A LOT of things.

So many things that my head hurt. I watched more youtube and amazon instructional videos about how to format, market, price, and edit your own books that I dreamed about coding for weeks.

Well, I tackled the amazon part of publishing, so the natural next step would be to learn how to publish over different digital platforms. I wouldn’t say I’ve mastered the art yet, but I’m getting my feet wet and trying.

On March 1, 2021, IT’S A TRUST THING, my very first self/indie published romance, goes into wide distribution digitally.  The book will be available from all these digital suppliers:

So, if you’ve got a nook, or read through Kobo, now is your chance to order the book in that format.

I have to admit doing this terrifies me. I’m so afraid I did something wrong and when people order the book they’ll wind up with digital gibberish instead of text.

So if you don’t hear from me on March 1, it’s because I’m having an anxiety attack! Not kidding. Not even a little.

Who knew at this advanced age I’d need to be my own publisher??? Not me, that’s for sure.

But… if this works out without any mishaps, I’ll be putting WOKE up next on April 1.

If it doesn’t, well, I’m going to crawl back into my writing hole and just….write. Leave the publishing to others with more experience, knowledge, and patience.

Pray for me, peeps. Pray for me…..

Until next time ~ Peg

#backlistThursday 2.18.2021

So this week I’m starting the backlist of my Kensington Publishing series, WILL COOK FOR LOVE. This was a 3 book series centering around cheflebrity Kandy Laine and her sisters. Book 1 is COOKING WITH KANDY and introduces Joshua Keane, who owns his own PI/Security firm, Brothers, Inc, which shows up in the Pride Of Brothers series.

Confused? Don’t be. Here’s a little about Kandy’s book:

Look for exclusive recipes in each book!

Kandy Laine built her wildly popular food empire the old-fashioned way—starting with the basic ingredients of her grandmother’s recipes and flavoring it all with her particular brand of sweet spice. From her cookbooks to her hit TV show, Kandy is a kitchen queen—and suddenly someone is determined to poison her cup. With odd accidents and threatening messages piling up, strong-willed Kandy can’t protest when her team hires someone to keep her safe—but she can’t deny that the man for the job looks delicious. . .

Josh Keane is a private investigator, not a bodyguard. But with one eyeful of Kandy’s ebony curls and dimpled smile, he’s signing on to uncover who’s cooking up trouble for the gorgeous chef. As the attraction between them starts to simmer, it’s not easy to keep his mind on the job, but when the strange distractions turn to true danger, he’ll stop at nothing to keep Kandy safe—and show her that a future together is on the menu. . .

And a little something to whet your romance reading appetites:

“My life isn’t what anyone would term normal.” She’d reined in her anger, her voice once again seductively low and calm. “I’m on the go from the minute I wake up, working fourteen-to sixteen-hour days most of the time. I have a national book tour starting in two weeks, plus I’m filming the new season. There are public appearances and television interview spots I’m scheduled to do. Go, go, go, all day, every day. You should know what you’d be setting yourself up for.”

Josh relaxed for the first time since meeting her. “Don’t worry about me. I’m used to working long hours, and I can take whatever schedule is thrown at me.”

The embers banked in her eyes, replaced by what looked like a challenge. “It might be interesting to see if that’s true, Mr. Keane.”
“Josh is fine.”
She nodded again. “Look. I came down to talk to you about tomorrow’s schedule, but I’ve got to get back to the set now. We have another segment to shoot before we call it a day.”

When she stood, Josh did as well. With a quick drag of her gaze from his feet to his head, she cocked an exquisite eyebrow, her lips pulling back in a question. “I have a hard time believing you could ever be unobtrusive.”

Josh rocked back on his heels and shoved his hands in his pants pockets. “You’d be surprised.”

A reluctant grin danced on her face.

#backlistThursday 2.11.2021 Just in time for #ValentinesDay – 3 WISHES ( A Candy Hearts Romance)

Valentine’s Day is just 3 days away and my backlist book today is my very first San Valentino RomCom 3 WISHES ( A Candy Hearts Romance).

Do wishes have expiration dates?

Valentine’s Day is chocolatier Chloe San Valentino’s favorite day of the year. Not only is it the busiest day in her candy shop, Caramelle de Chloe, but it’s also her birthday. Chloe’s got a birthday wish list for the perfect man she pulls out every year: he’d fall in love with her in a heartbeat, he’d be someone who cares about people, and he’d have one blue eye and one green eye, just like her. So far, Chloe’s fantasy man hasn’t materialized, despite the matchmaking efforts of her big, close-knit Italian family. But this year for her big 3-0 birthday, she just might get her wish!

Read a litte something from the book….

Staying open late can be a risk, with the thought of being robbed always a threat at the end of the day.

If the guy standing at the door, glancing around the shop, was a thief, then Dio mio, I wanted to be held up.

About six foot, he had hair the color of a deer’s pelt, with autumnal golds and browns shot together in a glorious patchwork that grazed the collar of his jacket and curled a little at the ends. He wore a faded brown bomber jacket over a shirt, and he had shoulders almost as wide as my doorway. A pair of well-worn jeans covered his mile-long legs, and the fabric on the stress points at his knees was practically white.

“We’re about to close,” I heard myself say. “Can I help you?”

It was at that moment he looked over at me.

His face could have been sculpted by Da Vinci or Michelangelo. A broad, smooth forehead housed naturally arched eyebrows I knew some of my gay guy friends would have paid a fortune to have on their own faces. His cheeks were carved from marble, high, smooth, and deep. And his mouth—mother of God—his mouth. Full, thick, beautiful lips sat perfectly over a chin with a dent you could shove a button into and have it stay put.

“Sorry,” he said. Those fabulous lips pulled up a little shyly at the corners. “I got stuck at work and couldn’t get here until now. I’ll be quick. Promise.”

So here’s the thing: the guy was gorgeous. But even if he’d looked like a frog with raw antipasto smothering his face, I would have dropped to my knees when he opened his mouth. Warm honey, a shot of raw whiskey, and a little hot puff of smoke wafted from his mouth like a fine and rare brandy being decanted.

Intrigued? Here ya go: 3 Wishes

#backListThursday 1.28.2021

SO, here we are at another Backlist Thursday post, and I’m STILL on the MacQuire Women series, hee hee!

Today’s entry is THE VOICES OF ANGELS and it was such a labor of love to bring Carly and Mike’s story to the page. A second chance, a bit older folks, romance, this book hit so many emotional highs for me, I cried when I finished it. Okay…that may have been the menopause hormones,…but still!!! It’s an emotional ride, to be sure.

Love is the last thing Carly Lennox is looking for when she sets out on her new book tour. The independent, widowed author is content with a life spent writing and in raising her daughter. When newscaster Mike Woodard suggests they work on a television magazine profile based on her book, Carly’s thrilled, but guarded. His obvious desire to turn their relationship into something other than just a working one is more than she bargained for.

Mike Woodard is ambitious, and not only in his chosen profession. He wants Carly, maybe more than he’s ever wanted anything or anyone else. As he tells her, he’s a patient man. But the more they’re together, Mike realizes it isn’t simply desire beating within him. Carly Lennox is the missing piece in his life. Getting her to accept it-and him-may just be the toughest assignment he’s ever taken on.

Here’s a little snippet from these two…..

“I…” Carly began, then stopped.

“Oh, hell. I’m not good with words in situations like this.”

His laugh came quick, charmed by her nerves. “Pretty pathetic declaration for a writer.”

Carly stuck out her bottom lip in a very alluring pout. He was tempted to stop and take her mouth with his again.

“Don’t mock me. When it’s on paper I can get it right. Real-life has no re-writes, no editing.”

“Granted.” The sunlight played with the alternating auburn and fire-red highlights in her hair as they began to walk again. He was convinced no color had ever been so alive.

Carly squared her shoulders. “I don’t want you to get the wrong impression about me. Concerning men.”

When he didn’t comment, she continued. “It’s only, well…I haven’t been involved with anyone since my husband died. I’ve been busy with my daughter and my writing. I haven’t met anyone I’ve been interested in, I guess.”

“Until now.”

Carly turned to look at him. Irritation crossed in her narrowed eyes. “You’re pretty sure of yourself.”

“No,” he replied. “I’m more sure of you, though.”

“Excuse me?”

Mike laughed again. He stopped and cupped her cheeks. “You’re even more beautiful when you’re angry. Your left eyebrow arches ever so slightly and your eyes turn the most incredible forest green.” He kissed her and felt her pulse trip again under his fingers.

Intrigued? I love their story because neither of these two were looking for love and yet….

THE VOICES OF ANGELS is available in print, digital, and Audio.

Until next time, peeps. Happy reading ~ Peg

WILD CARD UNDERCOVER – A re-release of a favorite book by KARI LEMOR

I read my favorite books more than once – and author Kari Lemor’s books are some I’ve read even more than that! She’s re-releasing her  LOVE ON THE LINE series in 2021 with new covers and added material.  3 new books  are in the collection ( later in the year) and today, the first in the series – WILD CARD UNDERCOVER – comes out. Read all about it:

Some gambles are worth the risk . . .

Trapped in the nightmare of Miami’s illicit underworld, Meg O’Hara has no choice but work for a high-stakes criminal to repay a debt. Freedom is a pipe dream, until FBI agent Christopher Shaunessy offers her a way out. It won’t be easy, especially playing the role of lover to the charismatic agent. Getting the goods on her boss could mean her life, a risk she’ll take to be rid of the rat’s vulgar advances.

Chris Shaunessy doesn’t break rules, but working with Meg is pushing even his well-honed control to the limit. Personal involvement should never mix in the sordid world of organized crime. They’re playing a perilous game. Giving into temptation could be his biggest mistake because the kisses they share might be more dangerous than the case…

Heat level/warnings: some cursing, sensual scenes (PG 13) sexual chemistry, some violence

Reviews:

RT Book Reviews says: “Wild Card Undercover will capture your heart with its humor and witty characters. A knight in shining armor rescuing a damsel in distress while infiltrating the mob is no small task. Kudos to Lemor who has gracefully mixed a femme fatale with a dash of The Godfather and tossed it together with romance and laughter.”

“Intriguing and dangerous- when it comes to the take down- Kari Lemor kept the pace fast and heart wrenching. Sweet and laced with sexy banter- the entire story was emotional and Chris and Meg were a dynamic couple.”

“The story was suspenseful and fast paced, and the chemistry between the characters was sizzling.”

Excerpt:

She finished chewing the piece of cantaloupe she’d been devouring and said, “Juice would be great. Thanks. I didn’t mean to sleep so late, but the bed was amazingly comfortable. I don’t think you’re ever going to be able to get me out of here now.”

He poured juice into a glass and sat opposite her. “Glad you enjoyed it. Not everyone sleeps well in a new bed. Obviously, it didn’t affect you.”

She looked up, sheepish, taking a big bite of the cinnamon muffin in her hand. “I’m so tired after work, I could probably sleep on the side of the road.”

“I wouldn’t suggest trying that around here. You’re more than welcome to keep using the bed.”

As she grabbed a juicy, red strawberry, she rolled her eyes. When was the last time she’d eaten? He’d have to make sure to get some good food in here for her. She needed to be full strength. Hopefully, she liked home cooking, since room service hadn’t been part of the deal with the hotel.

He was sure she was a strong one, considering what she’d been through the last year or so. She’d have to be to continue day after day on her feet, then go home to that shithole of a room. Her determination in keeping her family safe was admirable.

“So, what are the plans for today?” she asked as she shoved the rest of the muffin into her mouth.

He faked a pensive look. “Well, I was thinking I’d hang out by the pool and work on my tan.”

He laughed at her exasperated glare. “It’s all part of the undercover assignment, sweetie. You can’t go running around sticking your nose in people’s business. You have to ease yourself in, slowly, so they don’t suspect anything.”

“Sweetie?” Her eyebrow raised, her tone derisive.

He threw her a crooked smile. “All part of the undercover assignment, sweetie.”

She groaned. “Do I have to call you some stupid, sappy nickname, too?”

“Only if you want to. You could make it something to show what you think of me. You know, like Stud, Hotcakes, or how about Big Daddy?”

She looked like she didn’t know whether to laugh or throw up at his suggestions.

“I know.” Her eyes gleamed. “How about Cuddlebunny?”

Was she serious? “Nah, Chris is fine.”

“Chris Martin, though, right? Shaunessy is your real name?”

“It’s actually Christopher Martin Shaunessy. It’s easier to keep things simple when undercover if you can.”

“I picked Katie for a similar reason. One of my brothers calls me Maggie Kate, and I figured I would respond to it. Harrington, O’Hara, close enough. It’s worked for me so far.”

“It’ll continue to work, until we can put Moreno behind bars
