A look ahead….

Seems appropriate that I title this one a look ahead when the last blog was about looking back.

I’m nothing if not consistent, peeps. Hee hee

I’ve got some career goals for 2019 that I want to accomplish, in addition to some personal ones that need doing, as well.

First, a little backstory. This is me, afterall.

In November 2018 you  may remember I attended a conference where Jack Canfield was the primary speaker. He spoke about many things – all of them wonderful – but one thing he said stuck with me and resounded so completely, I’ve already begun putting its intention into use. Jack said, “You can’t have an uncluttered, focused life and mind, if your workspace and environment is cluttered, filled with detritus, and unfocused.”

Can I just tell you how that was a Come to Jesus moment for me?!

Since the day I arrived home from that conference I have been culling, cleaning, reorganizing, and reprioritizing my life, my environment, and my workspace. I started with the closets. All 15 of them. I’ve moved on to the bedrooms. After that, the kitchen, bathrooms, and then the living spaces will all be refreshed, culled of unnecessary items, and cleaned.

Yes, it’s exhausting work, and yes I find myself stopping at times to remember why I have this object, or obsess about whether or not I still need it – just in case! But then I remember what the point of this exercise in selective personal item culling is all about and I get on with it.

So, everything should be done by 12.31.18

On 1.1.19, in my newly refreshed, reorganized and restructured workplace/office, I will being writing the next 2 books on my TBWritten list and start planning out the next 3.

About those goals for 2019: here they are, in no apparent order.

1.Write a minimum of 1000 words before you start your actual day – what this means is that while I’m still in jammies, I write, Once 1000 words is achieved I get to get dressed, and do the adulting things I need to – like gym, laundry, etc. When they are done, I can write more.

2. Finish 2 complete manuscripts in 2019; have 2 published that are already completed.

3.Meditate for 20 minutes every day. No excuses. No matter what.

4. Gym 4-6 times per week.

5. Eat better, and by better I mean, cut out the crap!!

6. Blog no more than 2-3 times per week. I blogged upwards of 5 times a week in 2018 and it just got to be too much for me.

7. Perform daily aspirations re: career goals and personal issues. – these are private, so don’t ask!

I think that’s a good start, don’t you. We’ll see how far they get, which ones drop off by the wayside, and which ones become habits-for-life.

The happiest of New Years, peeps. ~Peg

#MFRWauthors Week 40 Clothing optional?

This could potentially be a real TMI blog for some writers. Hee Hee.

It won’t for me because I’ve spoken on this topic a lot in the past; no embarrassing secrets here.

First, the Peggy Jaeger rule of life: Never stand if you can sit, never sit if you can lay down, and never get dressed if you don’t have to.

I live by this code. Trust me, because I do!
Having said that, I like being comfortable.

For 150 years I had to wear a uniform to work. The first ten years of my career I wore nursing whites five days a week, sometimes six with overtime, and I hated it. When you’re a nurse in a medical surgical unit and an ICU you get a lot of ….body fluids… on you. I had to do wash DAILY because the thought that someone’s blood, or sputum, or other disgusting emissions were on my clothes laying in the hamper grossed me out to no end. Never mind that germs and bacteria grow in warm moist environments ( like dirty laundry bins.) Never mind some stains set almost immediately and need just as immediate treatment to get them out. And never mind I lived in an apartment with no access to a washer and drier s0 I had to bring them out to a commercial place. All that was bad enough, but do you know how difficult it is to keep whites white? If you don’t, then compare a 50 times washed white shirt to a brand new one of the same maker. ‘Nuff said. This is my nursing school picture, btw ( hee hee)

When I started working for my hubby I was able to wear colored scrubs every day to the clinic. I have a lot of those scrubs left in my closet and now that I don’t need to work outside the home anymore, I tend to use them as gym-wear. Since I don’t like tight clothing, especially when I’m working out, the scrub tops are perfect for easy movement and feeling comfortable.

If I don’t have the gym or 90 other things on my schedule that make me leave my home during the day, I tend to stay in my pajamas until it’s time to cook dinner.

Yup. I write in my pj’s, the most comfortable clothing I own. I truly wish it were acceptable to go out in public in pjs. I certainly would if it was.

And because I feel comfortable in my pjs, I tend to be able to write a lot more too, because I’m so happy in my clothes. And a happy writer is a productive writer. Go figure! Hee hee

I wonder what the other writers in the blog challenge wear when they’re creating…hmmm. Let’s find out, here.

If you’re looking for me, I’m usually here. Depending on if I’m home when you look for me, I may be dressed, or not. Tweet Me//Read Me// Visit Me//Picture Me//Pin Me//Friend Me//Google+Me// Triber// BookMe

Face-time…

Week 26 already?? Yowza. Okay, so the prompt this week is My Favorite Indulgence. Why, then, is my post titled Face-time…?

Good question, and easy to answer.

I’ve mentioned about a million times on my writing blog and my menopause one  I am a skin care fanatic. F-A-N-A-T-I-C. I wasn’t always this way, though. In my teens, and through my early forties, I was a total sun worshipper. The darker I could tan in the summer, the better I  liked it.

Than I got melanoma and the fun went out of sun bathing for me. Now, I shun the sun like a vampire queen. After the melanoma was treated I switched my sun worship to skin worship. I began getting professional facials on a monthly basis – no inexpensive thing, that! I invested in 100 SPF sun lotion – again, not cheap, and I now have an entire wardrobe filled with wide brimmed hats in every color imaginable. I typically wear mid-to- long sleeves and I never go out of the house with first slathering myself in sun block.

A little excessive?
I prefer to to think of it as a self indulgent process of prevention.

The real self indulgence here though, is that I still get those monthly facials from an aesthetician. The prices have gone up yearly, but I don’t care. She keeps my skin glowing and healthy and is my first line of defense if she spots anything untoward cropping up. If she does, she tells me and I make an immediate appointment with my dermatologist.

If I had to give up something in order to continue paying for those treatments, rest assured I would. Even if it was something vital, like dessert!

Things only my family would understand

Goodness! Week 10 already. Today’s topic is a little, well, I don’t want to say intrusive, but it kinda is, because I’m wondering if I have to explain WHY only my family would understand. I’m gonna take the easy way out here and just list them without explaining why. It’s not only easier, it’s less embarrassing. You guys have enough imagination, you might be able to answer why I’ve listed these things. If you can’t…oh well!

In no apparent order, only my family would understand:

  • my insane, almost pathological need for privacy
  • why shopping gives me a panic attack
  • my love for old black and white movies from the 30’s and 40’s
  • the reason I don’t remember my sophomore year in college
  • why I consider mayonnaise sandwiches comfort food
  • my uber-defined personal space bubble
  • my issues with food.
  • the reason I dislike Tom Brady
  • why I’ve dyed my hair since I was 16

It’s gonna be interesting to see if the other authors on this blog challenge put up their reasons and don’t take the embarrassed coward’s way out that I did! Click on their links and find out.
